Lately, the USS Kittyhawk has been in port in Sydney, and I've had some great convo's with some of the sailors and marines. On July 4, Sydney brought in laws banning smoking in all but one area of a pub or club.

One of the soldiers told me that when you enter a club in New York, the security frisks you for weapons (which I thought was crazy enough), but they'll also confiscate a packet of cigs if you have them on you.

Is this true? I find it hard to believe bouncers are frisking people down for cigarettes, that's fucking crazy if they do.

Hahaha, I guess you've never been in a town where sailors have come into port. They don't hang around down at the port, every pub and club in the city becomes crawling with guys trying to get their rocks off.

Plus I have a lot of female friends, so they start conversations with me to try and get near the girls I'm hanging out with.

Heaps of Yank sailors were in the bar I manage in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago.

They came up to the bar and were like: "Hey, please get us fucking blind."

We have the same thing in sunderland because of the hms ocean comes here because of it being its main port. Everytime its in the pubs & clubs fill up with navel men & women.

Well, I dont really go to the clubs here, I generally stick to the bars/lounges.

From my limited club experiences, they definitely do check you for weapons, I dont know about cigarettes though. It's not that far-fetched, because there's a smoking ban on all restaurants/bars/clubs, and I think its a pretty hefty fine if a place gets caught with people smoking inside.

Also, the people who check for bar violations are real pricks. There's this bar that I hang out at in my old neighborhood, and I went there on Christmas night after I was done spending time with my family. Two guys came in to inspect the place, on Christmas!!! Dont they have anything better to do?
