So what are your thoughts on this? Do America/Britain want to find Bin Laden - or is it in their interests to keep the "fear" going - so they can Police the world the way they want?

I dunno, but I do find it interesting that they can find Saddam in a hole in the ground in the middle of nowhere but can't locate Bin Laden who is prolly living it up pretty cumphy somewhere.

I think its down to the fear factor, if Binny is found then who do people have to fear? there will be no mastermind threatening to blow people up and create havoc. What will Bush and Blair do then? This means the new laws since 9/11 aren't needed. Al-Qaeda disbands - they can't have people arrested just for stepping off a plane.

Bush is too close w/ Bin's family. (And Bin Laden has a huge family) They'd be awfully upset if we just upped and captured him. Maybe they'll say Bin went to Iran and then we can wage an invasion on Iran too. Goody.

From what I know, Bin Laden's family doesn't support him in any way what so ever and are not criminals. I would imagine they want him caught and put away so their name can be less tarnished.

Of course they want to keep up the public appearance that they don't support him, so they say the took away his access to the family fortune, which is in the billions. Who knows. The family has hundreds of members. Bin Laden had over 20 brothers alone. Some must support him while some likely truely do oppose him.

As for wheres Bin Laden, I think the problem is they knew Saddam was in Iraq somewhere, it was impossible for him to leave the country and he knew it. However Bin Ladens different. Why do you think US and UK troops are still fighting in the Tora Bora region of Afghanistan? Its not City Slickers up there.

Also like D said the assumption that Al Queda would disband if Bin Laden was caught is ridiculous, Bin Laden is not the former of AQ hes just a prominent member. Someone else would just step into his place.
