I can drive a stick, but it would be REALLY difficult in NYC. I've squeezed into parking spots where I had maaaaaaaaaybe six inches total (front and back) to spare, and thats being generous. That would be virtually impossible with a manual.

I don't see how changing between 1st and Reverse and Drive and Reverse would be tha that different. Just ride the clutch if you have to. I live in Sydney which isn't New York but is pretty fucking busy and I get by fine.
I believe that the top selling car in Europe is the Ford Focus.
However what Americansmust realise is that if we drove 6 litre mega cars and mini vans like you guys we would be destitute seeing as a litre of petrol costs over what you guys pay for a gallon nearly.
