Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Time Time is an interesting concept, isn't it? Zen Buddhists believe in no time. Meaning, they believe in no past or future but only the present. The notion is that if one thinks of time as something in the future they will add some extra and un-needed thought and expectation to it that can never be lived up to; so it's a myth. The same with the past. It's always a distorted memory that is altered by your current perception so it can never be taken at face value. Nietzsche believed that time would forever repeat itself. He believed that after this existence we would repeat forever more, forever watching our lives go on and on again and again. This of course placed a lot of weight on the HERE and NOW just like the Zen lifestyle. Others have believed that time is merely a string, just as our existence. A long string that goes one way all the way to the end. Time to me are the seconds ticking on the microwave. Time to me is the amount of time before the bell rings and the final round is over. Time to me is defeating the bird in the clock. |

Although, if "time" is nothing, then what about the "end of time"? I suppose that the universe can never end itself, but what about when people, and our planet, are all gone? Surely you can measure time, then.

I think time is a little bit bullshit, or at least people who worry about legacies and lasting impressions and all that. I'm guilty of it; I want to be famous and loved. But the Zen brothers make a lot of sense. I am so afraid to grow old.

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | Sometimes I feel, Miakal, Mikel Carlson, that time is being used up like super expensive toilet paper. I feel like I need to get out there and start eating more solid foods. You know? Every day is another Dilbert Cartoon calendar day just passing me by. I have to start living NOW. Time is rolling behind me and destroying what little sense there is left. There is no yesterday but tomorrow is going to be the same if I don't start pushing myself. I'm very tired at this point. |

I ease my mind on the fact that I'm in school, and doing really well in school, and that once I finish my degree I can start doing everything else... but then most of the time, I think to myself "Fuck you dude, that's a terrible excuse for wasting your prime." That's when I usually update my JVN sig!

Much like we characterise things so we can better understand. We give our gods and religious idols humanlike characteristics, and a common theme in many children's books is animals with humanlike characteristics as well.
