What did Pius XII do? Contrary to what some think he condemmed the Nazi's treatment of jews, other than that though I know nothing about him.

Visit and shop for video games at my Amazon-based store, also get discounted HD DVDs while they last.

Yeah, he was a little "traditional", but unlike some stuff I read people say about him on other forums where I lurk (not here...everyone was respectful here) he believed the way he did because he genuinely thought it was for the good of humanity. It was never an ego trip or a way to boost the Vatican's power, as Ive read people accuse him of.

I also read people blaming him for the pedophilic nature of many priests, which i thought was preposterous.

I may not have agreed with all of his beliefs, but I know that he held those beliefs with only the purest intentions. I just hope that the new Pope can be as much of a leader and as caring as John Paul II was

I seen the thing in a paper about him and the pedophilic priests. They were saying he knew all about it but never spoke out against it. They also don't like how he didn't allow women to be priests which i agree with.

We covered this today in religion. You must be male, catholic, and single.

Hitler thought what he was doing was for the good of humanity too. Just because someone believes it's good doesn't make it so or doesn't save this person from just criticism.

No, I'm not comparing Hitler to Pope John Paul II but merely that line of thinking.

Pope Pius XII was constantly indifferent to what was going on in Germany and Italy. He worked along with Fascist leaders. When Hitler began to rise to power the Cardinals of Germany began to voice their displeasure to Pope Pius XII about what was to come but he simply dismissed them.

I don't believe Pope Pius XII ever condemened Hitler for what happened in WWII, not even after the war. He certainly didn't apologize to the Jews for his politics. John Paul II was the first who did.

Here are two Catholic Bishops honoring Hitler...

that is a great picture...
now i'm throwing in on popes:
the Lateran Pacts, 3 separate agreements between chuch (Pope Pius XI) and state (Mussolini) signed in 1929. 1. treat recognizing Vatican as sovereign city-state headed by pope. 2. the "Concordat" which made Roman Catholicism the official state religion of Italy = Church has special social and legal privileges, control over religious teachings in Italy's schools. 3. mony paid to Vatican for property seized

i know , you're bored, here's the important part:
in return, the Fascist state obtained the recognition of the ecclesiastical authorities, which meant praise from the pulpits.
Pope Pius XI applauded the conquest of Ethiopia.
The Vatican was silent about the 1938 racial laws.

i love the pope, which pope was the one who was married and had children? i know he exists

Do you really believe that? Or do you believe that he said he was doing it for the good of humanity so he could stay in power?

That's true. But it should save said person from unjust criticism...I saw some really harsh stuff written about him on other sites
