Rep Power: 74 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() gXboxLive Leaderboard: 38th | Main event Title match: THC vs. Barley I have always thought that Pot is a much less harmful drug than booze. I could honestly go on for hours about the reasons why booze is more harmful than pot. I know we have had this conversation before, but it really is a big topic in my eyes. One thing I really can't stand is people that think you are a loser or drug addict if you smoke pot, meanwhile these dudes are getting trashed 4-5 nights a week. I don't believe that its for everyone, but coming from a dude that has smoked more bud than the rest of the forum combined (yes, I am 100% sure of that), I really dont see the harm in lighting up a joint. Here are some random thoughts on booze vs. pot *You can only get so high, you can get so drunk that it literally kills you. *You don't get in fights with people just because your stoned, many a fists and faces have been broken when people are drunk. *You only stay high for so long, then its back to normal. You drink too much, it seems to only get worse, no matter how long you stopped drinking. *Hangovers. Pot = None. Booze = Thumpa thumpa thumpa *Health problems. There is no evidence that pot is addictive. Booze.....nuff said. Every single one of us know and are related to an alcoholic. -Booze equals broken blood vessels in the face, liver damage and weight gain. Pot does minimal damage to the lungs and brain. (It is smoke afterall) *Tell me the last kid that got his ass kicked because his parent smoked earlier in the day. Tell me the last kid that got beat because dad has a headache coming home from the bar.........oh wait 10 kids got beat as I wrote this sentence. *Car accidents. Drunk people kill thousands and thousands of people each year in the United States. I am sure its a problem everywhere else too. Tell me the last time you read or heard about a high dude killing a family of 4 with his car. There is so much more, but its late.

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | I agree. I know many people, unfortunately, who have died from alcohol related deaths yet know no one who has from pot. Furthermore, I know a lot of families that are split up, abusive, and just completely messed up because of alcohol but none because of pot. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | LOL. Man, you must be real desperate to publicly justify your love of dope--what gives? Let me correct some points: Hangovers: Had two large snifters of rum last nite, feel just fine (it's 6AM here now). Weight gain: A shot of whiskey has about the same calories as a glass of OJ. Drinking before dinner actually retards the appetite which may be why many real alkies are emaciated and malnourished. Now if you wolf down a whole pizza with your drinks you'll gain weight, but don't blame the drinks. Health: Moderate drinking is good for the heart. To significantly increase your risk of serious liver disease you need to drink alot. I once found a study that put it at something like 6 or 8 oz. of spirits every day for decades. Addiction: Only for those predisposed to it. Fighting: Alcohol lowers inhibitions. If you're already inclined to fight drinking makes it easier. Many of us just mellow out. As for this part: *You only stay high for so long, then its back to normal. You drink too much, it seems to only get worse, no matter how long you stopped drinking. WTF do you drink? Once the alcohol oxidizes you shouldn't feel it at all. (That's the trick people pull of "nursing a drink") Otherwise, maybe a pot of coffee??? |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() | Its not as weak as you think actually. * Hes right about weight gain, unless you drink about three pints of Guiness a day, weight gain from alcohol is minimal. * There was a big study all over the newspapers not so long ago about how drinking one and a half units of alcohol a day is actually good for you. I can'tremember the scpecifics but I plainly said moderate drinking is not bad for you at all. * Also as for pot not being that bad for lungs, that is well just wrong. I'm left an article on here that everyone ignored about a case of a 30 year old guy who smoked pot4 times a week and he had the lungs of a chain smoker of 60. |

I also am about to go to the gym and run for a half hour at a extrememly difficult speed and resistance. I am not saying its not bad for you, but its certainly not as bad as cigarette smoke. Also, you guys are missing the point. Its about the general publics consumption of both products and the general concerns about both. You guys obviously dont smoke pot. Its freaking harmless.

I thought it was from smoking, but doc said it was a torn rib cage muscle (yes, it really f'n hurts). He said my lungs sound fantastic. Some people can handle more than others. thats all. I was getting to the point where I was putting down a half ounce a week. (without sharing) Call me a loser or addict if you will, but I think my life is doing just fine. If someone made me choose between pot and booze for the rest of my life, I would drop booze in a heartbeat

Rep Power: 37 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Alcohol in moderation, as most people have said, is good for you. And it is not that bad calorie-wise in moderation. But the problem is that many people who drink do not do so in moderation. Shane mentioned that alcohol may cause violence and addiction in people who are pre-disposed to it. Does that make it any better? Michael Jackson may be predisposed to pedophilia, does that mean we should make 12-year old boys readily available to him. America tried prohibition and it failed miserably. Alcohol will always be available. But to say that it causes less problems than pot is absurd.
