"Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is." In its original form, the first two sentences have absolutely "nothing" to do with the question: "Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them." Ignore those two sentences. They are there only to throw you off. (Worked, didn't it?) What's left is the actual riddle itself: "There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is." The key is the phrase "the English language." In this three-word phrase, the third word is simply the word "language." "Language" is definitely something that "everyone uses every day"! Without that quirky little twist, the puzzle would just be another trivia question, and not a riddle.

The key is the phrase "the English language ." Is not a phrase because there are no indicators to show it is not just part of a sentence and nothing in the riddle actually proves without a doubt they are talking about Language. We also use "words" everyday. Riddles can only have one sure answer and this riddle doesn't have that.

The sons were to ride their camels to a certain distant city. The son whose camel reached the city last would be given all the sheik's wealth. The two sons set out on the journey. After severals days of aimless wandering, they met and agreed to seek the advice of a wiseman. After listening to the wiseman's advice, the two sons rode the camels as quickly as possible to the designated city. What was it that the wiseman told the two sons? They did not agree to split the wealth, and their father's decree would be followed.

Rep Power: 22 ![]() ![]() | Lol, Had to think about this one. I had to read it a few times but then I noticed it said "The son whose camel reached the city last would be given all the sheik's wealth. Then why they would be racing to be first? The only way they would want to be first is if they were riding the others camel! |
