Rep Power: 24 ![]() ![]() | It's a sad day when people sit around a courtroom waiting for the jury and all cheer when it is announced someone is going to be killed. It is still someone's sone no matter what he did. People can be such idiots. He is not going to die anytime soon and he will be well forgotten by the time he is put to death. No one will give a rats ass 10 years from now. |

He killed his wife and his un-born child with absolutely no remorse whatsoever. I'm no fan of the death penalty but in cases like this it's easy to look the other way. |

I read int he paper today that California has the most clogged death row. it also said that it will probably be a matter of years until the appeals start anyways. you never know though, cuz the judge could always lower the sentence to life without parole.

Personally, i think life in prison would be more appropriate. First, I think the death penalty should be reserved for only the most heinous criminals (Timothy McVeigh, for instance, or that woman who drowned her 5 kids one-by-one), and Peterson's case isnt quite on that level. Secondly, I think the death penalty should only be used in cases where there is absolutely no doubt that the defendant commited the crimes. Though there is a ton of evidence against him, you often see cases get overturned years later. Better to let a guilty man live than kill an innocent one, I feell And lastly, my biggest problem with the death penalty is that it is too easy for the defendants. I'm sure life in prison, especially for someone as high profile as Scott Peterson, would be much worse than lethal injection in 10 or so years. As terrible as this guy was, I thought Jeffrey Dahmer went out the right way. They wanted to keep him isolated from the rest of the inmates for his own safety, and he requested to be kept in general population, saying that he deserved whatever the inmates did to him. Sure enough, they sodomized him with a plunger and beat him to death. At least he suffered before he went out
