I can't comment on the music, but as far as comedy, I really think it's unfair to compare the two. These styles of humor are very different, while the US doesn't have anything that compares to Monty Python, The Office, or Pheonix Nights, the UK doesn't have anything to compare to The Simpsons, South Park, or Family Guy. For those that think the UK is miles ahead of the US in comedy, you need to see Team America: World Police, and see if you still have that opinion.

Saturday Night live was created from SCTV, which is Canadian. So we are responsible for the creation of SNL and that caused MADtv to be created. So in a sense we are responsible for that as well.
