My problem is people equating protesters with terrorists. So if you protest the President you are as good as someone who kills 3,000 people? I'm sorry but that's just insane and lacks any kind of depth in reality.

Go egg the tanks on at Tiananmen Square and leave this country alone.
Hey now, don't go making it look like I said anything about terrorists because I didn't. And your defense of them using violence is weak. How is hitting someone with a sign doing any good for any cause? They can protest all they want but the war already happened. You just know the people attacking policemen are nothing more then troubl makers.

People have every right to protest all they want as long as they do not resort to unprovoked violence and vandalism, if they cross this line then they should be regarded as terrorists as they would be endangering peoples lives, imo.

So if a guy speeds or has a beer is that considered an act of terrorism? He is the same as a guy who kills 3,000?

Honestly, I don't get it.

The actions can be considered as criminal, I think that is what you mean.

I hope so.

I was referring to people who assault the police and would attempt to destroy public property. Of course a guy who speeds is not the same as an Osama Bin Laden who has slaughtered thousands.

To clarify, from everything I've read so far those people arrested were taken into custody because they were protesting in a zone that they were not designated to protest in. The action these people have engaged in is criminal but in no way are they terrorists. If something happens tonight though, where a person trys to disrupt the convention with some sort of violent act then yeah I think they should be regarded as terrorists. I really don't think you need to kill atleast 3,000 people as you said to qualify as a terrorist. I was referring to the threat of people using violence which would qualify as acts of terrorism which there certainly is, especially tonight when the protesting will probably be at the highest levels.

I have no problem with protesters, I'm not insinuating that they are terrorists.

I think we are on somewhat agreeable terms. Still, I have trouble with the looseness that the word "terrorist" has in modern day language. I think an act of terrorism is an act of applying fear through violence against the country. Applying fear towards the country as a whole, not a political party or opinion. People have attacked policemen since policemen existed. Was this supposed've been labeled an act of terrorism?

The protesting zones are stupid and a complete jab at civil liberties. Look at Boston, they had a cage they could step inside and be in or as it was called "The Free Speech Zone".

Thry have to have that zone. Think about how easy access terrorists would have posing as protesters to do some real damage. Obviously these people who are inacting the right to free speech think it also involves the right to violence as well. They are right to make them go in a assigned area. Not to mention being there assembling as a group with out a permit.

I think you would be singing a different tune if they let them protest where ever they wanted and it ended with more innocent people hurt or even a terrorist attack due to easier access.

I didn't say that protesters should be allowed unlimited access, obviously there has to be a limit. I'm saying that putting them in a cage called the "free speech zone" or breaking them up into several groups and tossing them in opposite boroughs is a bit retarded.

If the government doesn't want violence then maybe it should start listening to it's people, or it's voters depending on your viewpoint.

Anyway, I'm from Chicago and we have a fantastic history of protesters.

Yes, people will be skipping in the streets holding hands and never protesting again if the government started listing to it's people and or voters lol. People bitch about the government yet when it comes down to it the government ARE the people and no matter who you put in there even if they vow to do no wrong end up being "human" and lie or fall back on promises. People expect that when someone goes to the government they instantly become the perfect human. If people we trust were godsend then the world would be a perfect place. People as a collective like to complain and if there is nothing to complain about, they create a reason.

People would be skipping in the streets if we didn't have to be constantly at war 24/7 without reason.

It would be like Canada. Or better yet, Norway.

But we don't live in these magical places, we live in America.

It's funny that you keep thinking that people will "just bitch about anything" when the fact is, at this point in time in our world, you couldn't be further from the truth.

America has only had one great philosopher yet none of you morons are capable of understanding his message.

Couldn't be further from the truth? How about law suits that involve coffee and being too stupid to know it is hot and going to burn you. or the PTA,PTC Green Peace who happens to throw out false facts to gain support.etc and a million other groups poping up.
