Bit torrents Problems

Attention Genius and Allen108 !!!

I am attempting to use BitTorrent but when I download movies etc it is only getting real low KB's. I have been reading that I need to open my ports to accept ports 6881 through 6889. I cant figure out how to do that for the life of me.

What am I missing? Also, can you guys maybe let me know the best way to optimize downloading speed.

Also, what are seeds and D/L's? Seeds appear to be people waiting?? D/L's appears to be how fast it was uploaded? Not sure at all, I am still getting used to this blasted system.

Any help would be appreciated.

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

Seeds are who you are downloading off, and downloads is how many people are downloading from the seeds as far as i am aware. The more dl's the lower the dl rate.

I do not open any ports and wouldn't recommend it.

As far optimising speed, i'n not so sure. What rates are you getting

anywhere from 26 to 50 kb's.

Is that fast? Errrrr. :?

When I went to work at 3pm I had begun downloading the first 6 episodes of the first season of 24. It said I had some 10 hours for it to finish. It was like 2188mb's.

I wouldn't sniff at 50kbs a sec, I usually peak out at forty so that really isn't that bad.

Sounds good, I have found a way to make it even faster. When the download is about halfway done, you can switch to "seeder" which pumps up yor numbers to like 165kb's . it was pretty fantastic.

Here is a dilemia that i ran into this morning........

I downloaded the first 6 episodes of season 1 of the show 24. Well I had to switch it to "open with windows media players" and now my bit torrent doesnt work. I have tried switching everything back to the way it was before, but now when i go to download torrents it opens under "windows media player" instead of "BitTornado"

What the hell am I doing wrong Genius? Do I need to uninstall everything and retry it, or is it something simple?

Hmmmmmmm

I was also told by a dude at the store that in order to play PS2 burnt discs that I need to get a special chip for the PS2. Ever hear of that?

Have you been living under a rock Simon? You needed a chip for the PS to play burnt games like a billion years ago when it first came out.

Never heard that before, very strange. Why did you open it to open with media player? You should have opened the downloaded file not bittottent with WMP.

Only thing I can suggest is to uninstall it and retry.

All the best

Lol, I just find it odd that anyone who plays playstation or is on the internet as much as you would not know about this already. especially the ps chip needed. I knew about that 5 years ago.
