Everwhere I look its all about anti Bacteria and Sterilization. Clean this, Clean that.. Dont let your kids touch this.. Make sure you wash your hands in anti-bac soap etc.
I remember when I was a kid playing out in the dirt.. i would come back in black as the ace of spades and then pick a sandwich and start eating it.
If i was out and I had a dirty face my mother would spit on a handkerchief and clean my face with it.
Everything nowadays is about cleanliness... While im not suggesting we should live in squalor.. i think our obsession with cleanliness is going to produce weaker children.
How can a child build up a good immune system to germs and stuff when everything is so spic and span thanks to the latest cleaning products and the obsession of keeping everyhing 'germ free'?
I remember reading an article back in the 1950s where a place in Europe had all ultra modern homes with everything germ free.. and they had the highest rate of polio in the world simply because all of the germ free environments didnt allow their bodies to build an immunuty to stuff.. whereas people living in tents and goat shit didnt have a thing wrong with them.
Are we too clean for our own good? and will we end up with weaker offsping?

Yes. George Carlin has a whole bit about this. How he used to swim in feces and stuff.
I think of myself as victim to this whole issue.
When I was younger there was all this crap about being clean, washing your hands, etc, and it drove me a little OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). I would wash my hands after touching ANYTHING and would be in a constant fear of germs.
This happened until like 5 years ago. I was reading something about how germs are GOOD for your body and you need them to survive. Now I go out of my way to have germs. I invite them into my life.
I never hesitate to eat something that has fallen on the floor.
The only exception to this rule is if it's fallen on Dave's floor. He's got ___ on his floor.
