Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Cigarettes vs Alcohol Cigarettes cause all forms of cancer, they force other people to inhale smoke and possibly catch all kinds of smoke related illnesses.. They fund the british NHS and bring the government billions of pounds of tax revenue. Alcohol causes more fights than any other substance, it causes more road deaths than any other substance. it brings the government billions of pounds of tax revenue. Its down to you which one of the two to outlaw and why. You can only chose one. Please give a brief explanation and justification why. |

How many smokers are banned from smoking in public places when drinkers are let off the hook in certain bars? How many violent acts and murders have been influenced under the influence of cigarettes? | |

| Cigarette's in my opinion - they themselves kill people. Not to mention I see no point in cigarettes. Alcohol, however, it's the actual person committing the crime, or doing whatever. Just because they're drunk doesn't mean they know the difference from wrong and right. |

Rep Power: 9 ![]() | This is a good question. From a personal point of view, I would rather see cigarettes banned. I would rather live with out cigarettes than alcohol, and that's coming from a smoker. All things being equal, I think society as a whole would benefit more from getting rid of alcohol, because it causes way more problems (as Shango described) than cigarettes. Not liking the smell of smoke is not a major societal problem. However, all things aren't equal and banning alcohol is much more difficult and costly than banning cigarettes. We tried here in the states before, it doesn't work. Therefore, I guess my answer is cigarettes on both counts. |
