Overriding Copy Controlled CD's?

I've heard rumours around the place that it is possible.

Anyone know a legit way to do it?

copy controlled music, most u can copy normally despite them having copywrite protection...

There is like a recent development (I think EMI or BMG started it) where they have Copy Controlled some CD's to prevent people using (for example) Windows Media Player to Copy the CD onto hard drive. This is to prevent both file sharing and more importantly CD Burning.

I know The Eminem Show and Avril Lavigne's Let Go are two examples of this new technology.

APPARENTLY, there are ways to override it though so you can still copy the music.

try what i said. i dont know from experience if its true, but i've heard it is.

This is how it works:

If you look at the data side of the CD, on the very outside, there is a thin ring. Apparently, on the copywritten CD's, they put some sort of code on that portion of the CD that makes it impossible to copy

I've heard that if you cover that thin ring with a black marker, the laser doesnt read the code in that part, thus the CD is copy-able

Again, i dont know for sure if it works. just something i heard somewhere
