Coca-Cola has said it will not relaunch its purified tap water, Dasani, in the UK for the time being following a contamination scare.

Some 500,000 bottles of Dasani were withdrawn by the company last week after tests showed it contained levels of the potentially harmful chemical bromate above legal standards.

The product had stirred controversy when it emerged that rather than coming from a particular mineral spring it was tap water which the company purified and added minerals to.

Coke has now said it "has decided not to reintroduce Dasani into Great Britain at this time."

The company also said it had postponed the introduction of Dasani in France, planned for April, and Germany, scheduled for May.

However, a company spokesman said Coca-Cola still has "full confidence" in the brand, which is the number-two selling bottled water in the US
fucking coke.
