Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Shango said I could do one. There's a door. In front of the door is a scale. The only way to open the door is by placing exactly four litres of water on the scale. You have two jugs. One can hold 5 litres, and one can hold 3. Yet you need four litres... The rules are you can only fill, empty and pour the contents of one jug into the other. How do you get four litres exactly? |

Jackson doing it. First, you fill the 3-litre jug all the way, then put it into the 5-litre jug. then you do it again, but after filling the five-litre jug, you are left with one litre in the 3-litre jug Then, you empty the 5-litre jug and pour in the one litre that is currently in the other jug. Now, you have one litre in the 5-litre jug. Fill up the three litre jug, add it to the one litre in the 5-litre jug, and voila, 4 litres exactly | |

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | Or, alternatively you could fill the 5 litre jug.. fill the 3 litre jug with it so you are left with two litres in the 5 litre jug. Empty out the 3 litre jug.. pour the remaining 2 litres into the empty 3 litre jug. Refil the 5 litre jug.. then fill up the 3 litre jug.. thus leaving you with 4 litres. in the 5 litre jug |

Rep Power: 7 ![]() | There is a town in Texas where 5 percent of all the people living there have unlisted phone numbers. If you selected 100 names at random from the town's phone directory, on average, how many of these people would have unlisted phone numbers? |
