Does anyone read or write poetry here?

Just wondering. Spit out a few favorite writahs, if you dig.

I think we should have some improv poetry going here, let me start....

Walking down the street
I see a pretty girl
I would like to meet
With a pretty twirl
But she does not see
What I have for her
That's okay for me
She's just a slut, I'm sure

That's more of a wanna-be limerick, so let's do a real limerick

There once was a guy named Joe
and what he didn't know
was that he had no luck
and his poetry sucked
In fact it does pretty much blow

I've actually done a fair bit of poetry as part of my English Literature course.

I hate poetry.

I actually did a 10 000 word assignment deconstructing the works of Elizabeth Barrett Browning. If you think poetrys boring already, try doing that and see how much less you like it aftewards.

when you look in a mirror what do you see
do you see the inner you and beauty
what we see is our faults and weaknesses
we look in the mirror and think of change
what is missed is the essence of yourself
we are what we make ourselves out to be
the image is seen as everything that is wrong
not until you can accept your true self
will you look in the mirror and see what is there
the person that makes you who you are
the inner you will show your true reflection
and that reflection will last a life time

i used to write poetry as a way of dealing with hard times. I havent written in years though. I never let anyone ever read any of it though. It was all for my own self-therapy
