Lebron James has lived up to the hype as far as I'm concerned. He's only 18 or 19 and nobody expected him to start putting up 50 points a game. In his first year he was expected to do exactly what he's done. He's not going to be the next Micheal Jordan, but he has the potential to be the next Magic Johnson.

I agree with that 100%. He shouldn't be able to score more than 20 points in a game. He is still a kid. Let's talk about James in 8 years, then decide if he is overrated.

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

You guys are proving why he is overrated. He has done nothing in the NBA yet to deserve being called the next MJ (That means both of them). If he ever proves himself then fine give him the hype. But don't hype somebody just because they can play good in high school. Especially when he isn't even the best rookie in the NBA right now ::hmmm::

Whether or not Lebron is the best rookie is debatable. I assume you're refering to Carmelo Anthony as someone that is better, and while Carmelo has averaged more points per game, Lebron has more assists and rebounds. He's the top rookie in assists and second in rebounds. And he's only 18 years old!

When people compare him to Jordan and Johnson, it's in terms of potential, and there's no denying that the potential is there. He's possibly the most athletic person overall in the NBA today.

LeBron James is not the next Michael Jordan, just like Vince Carter was never going to be the next MJ, and Kobe Bryant was never going to be the next MJ. LeBron is the next LeBron James, and there's a good chance he's going to be a very special player.

-Anthony has more points.

-Anthony has more blocks.

-They are tied in rebounds.

-Lebron is averaging more minutes per game and has almost played 100 minutes more than Anthony. They have both played 20 games.

-Lebron has more assists.

-Lebron has one more steal than Anthony.

-Lebron has more turnovers.

So in my opinion Anthony is way better than Lebron. The only thing Lebron does better than Anthony is assist and turnover ;)

Spinoff, you dolt, he is [b:post_uid8]18[/b:post_uid8]. Can we please wait four to five years before having this discussion? LeBron is doing things no other high school rookie has even come close to doing.

And Anthony is only 19 with one year of college. Sorry but I don't see the difference. Carmelo Anthony is way better than Lebron and should be the one getting all the endorsements and hype. Not some overrated high school player ::spinoff::

Do you realize how much a year of college ball would do for the skills of a young player? 'Melo played a full season, including a trip to the Final Four, against REAL competition, guys who are gonna be future NBA basketball players. I dunno if you caught any of LeBron's games, he was a manchild out there, playing around with skinny high school kids that couldn't even catch his passes.

I'm not for one second going to take anything away from Anthony, the guy is going to be a stud. The same goes for LeBron James -- he of the, what, 16 career games played? Yeah let's judge him because he's turned the ball over a few times.

I guess it's time to call Darko Milicic a bust, right? He's played all of fifteen minutes so far this year, and he's still a probable future All-Star.

Like you said he played awful players in high school. Why is he being hyped as the greatest thing to happen to basketball in a long time then? And I am sick of hearing wait until he proves himself in the future. Reality is he is getting the hype right now when he still has to prove himself which makes him overrated. Give him the hype when and if he becomes a good player in the NBA and not just the second best rookie ::spinoff::
