If you found a stack of money. - Would you turn it in?

Be honest. I made this topic because I was reading the police blotter in my local newspaper last night and someone found an undisclosed amount of cash layin the street and they turned it in. Personally, if I found a few grand, I'd probably be afraid to keep. But I sure as hell wouldn't turn it in to the police. I don't trust the cops in this town at all. I would probably post an ad in the paper asking for the owner of the cash to tell me how much they lost.

If I found a couple hundred dollars, I would probably just keep it though.

I would also expect someone to keep a large sum of money if I lost it.

I lost my wallet once and I had nearly 300 bucks in it. It really blew.

I've found money a few times and I've always turned it in.

One time a few months ago I found 1 dollar at the library. I put it in my pocket with a sense of glee and wonderment. Then a few minutes later I felt guilt about it. I started to think that it was probably some little kids or some old lady or something.

I couldn't take it, so I put the dollar in the donation box.

I had my jacket stolen from my work 5 years ago. It had my wallet and my check form work in it. About a year later, immigration called me at work and told me they caught some guy with my wallet and ID in it and pretending to be me. At the time my drivers license didn't have photo ID and he had my social insurance card as well as my birth cert. The officer came to my work and returned my wallet and all my ID. I thought that was kind of trippy knowing that some dood was out there doing gawd knows what and pretending to be me. I should have asked if he was wearing a leather jacket at the time too. I would have liked ot have gotten that back as well.

yeah, but we are talking bout flat out finding a plain brown paper bag or something with no writing on it, just cash. No stealing. I would never steal. But if i found it on the ground then its all mine.


You know how many people would claim it was theirs and just guess a dollar amount and hope they were close?

I know, I just thought it was a cool story. I found $700 in a shoe when I was working at a thrift store. I was going to pocket it but I was too nervious that they planted it there to see if it would be turned in. I wouldn't have put it past them. I got %30 of the cash though so it wasn't a total loss.
