i dont use AT&T, but I've heard lots and lots of complaints about them, and i read two separate articles today describing the way that AT&T jerks around their customers.
In the New York Post, one of their writers describes how he's had many problems with his service over the years. Most of his incoming calls go directly to voicemail without the phone ever ringing. When he called customer service to complain, he kept getting automated messages, until finally he was put on hold to wait for a real person. After 10 minutes, another recorded message came on saying "All operators are busy, please try again later" and then they cut him off. This happened numerous times.
On november 24th, a new law came into effect which states that people can switch service providers and still keep their old cell phone numbers. This writer tried to switch to Verizon, but his phone wasnt working. when he called Verizon to find out what happened, he was told that everything was fine on Verizon's end, but for some reason AT&T had locked the number and prevented it from being switched over.
Then on CNN.com i saw an article saying that the FCC is going after AT&T for preventing people from leaving the service and taking their number with them.
My guess is that they know their service is a piece of sh*t, and they make it as difficult as possible to change, so that hopefully most people will just say "#### It" and stick with AT&T rather than go through the hassle of changing providers.
I dont know if any of you care, but it just drives me up the ####ing wall when i hear about huge corporations like AT&T ripping off regular Joe's like us.
