DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- Saddam Hussein's oldest daughter told Al-Arabiya television network Tuesday the family of the former dictator will hire the best attorneys it can find to fight for her father.

In a phone interview, Raghad Hussein, 35, told the Arabic-language channel that the family believes Saddam was drugged after he surrendered to American troops.

"This is not our father," she said. "This is not how he would act."

Raghad said the family hopes that there will be a government in Iraq that is fair and not under the domination of the United States.

Raghad and her sister, Rana, 33, have been given asylum in Jordan.

Saddam was captured Saturday evening by soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division and Special Operations troops, who found him hiding in a hole near a ramshackle farm outside the north-central Iraqi town of Tikrit, the ousted leader's ancestral homeland.

The soldiers were preparing to throw a hand grenade into the hole -- standard procedure for their safety -- when a man raised his hands out and identified himself.

"I am Saddam Hussein," the bearded ex-leader said, the soldiers later told reporters. "I am president of Iraq. I want to negotiate."

The soldiers said they replied: "President Bush sends his regards."



First of all, who gives a sh*t if he was drugged. He should have been tortured. I like how he wanted to negotiate after they found him. haha too late for that. Does anyone else really think he should get an international trial? I think they should bring him back to the U.S. and put him in with the general population. Let the prisoners have their fun with him.

i think that since it was the Iraqi people that he oppressed and killed, they should be the ones to "dispose" of him

Dumb bitch. They are in Jordan because they are scared of their dad and he killed their husbands. When the war started they were acting like they hated him so much and how they don't even consider him their dad. And now they want to help him ::hmmm:: They just lied so they didn't end up like their brothers.

Anyway. I really don't see how he could have any trial in the US. He didn't commit one crime against the US. He also can't be charged for his attacks during the war on his own country and Iran. So I really don't see where they are going with this trial thing ::sleepy::

Like I said in the other thread, he can't have a trial in anywhere but Iraq because he can reveal too damaging of information in other places and for other people. For instance, the weapons he got from America to fight Iran, secret oil deals with France and Russia, etc.
