This is awful news for the NHL and the Thrashers. Both Heatley and Snyder were up and comers and now Snyder has died and Heatley will be lucky if he's not jailed. The question now is how will Dany Heatley ever live with himself knowing that he cost his team mate his life?

Oct 6: Snyder, who never regained consciousness after Monday's car accident, died Sunday night. The Atlanta center suffered a depressed skull fracture and massive brain injuries and was unable to recover. He appeared in 49 NHL games, collecting 11 goals and five assists.

My wife works for a hockey stick factory that makes sticks for the pros. Weird thing is, she was making Heatly 50 blades today. Sad thing is the guys around the plant were making fun about him not needing them for awhile, etc. Jokes in bad taste, especially for two players that had potential.

It's awful, from what I've heard Heatly was a class act on the ice and Snyder was an absolute gem of a dude. Really sucks and makes you wonder why you'd ever want to drive that damn fast on a narrow road.

Reminds me of Pelle Lindberg, The Philly goaltender. Had a promissing future, they were going to build Philly around his goaltending, then doing about the same speed with the same results. Only difference is he was alone, but still tragic.

Yeah absolutely. Lindbergh was just coming off a Vezina win in his third season or so and bam that happened. Sort of reminds me of Steve Chiasson back in 1999 as well. Snyder was supposed to be a future regular with the Thrashers and could have made the team this year, and Heatley well sh*t here's a guy thats supposed to be the future face of hockey and Canada's next great, now because of retardedness behind the wheel he may wind up behind bars.
