The Third World

I just seen yet another commercial trying to tug my heart strings, and trying to convince me to send money monthly to a third world charity so they can supply them with food and water.

Arent they better off giving these people contraceptives? Even in relatively well off areas around the world people who have jobs and a home still juggle the idea of having children because they are unsure if they can adequately provide for them.

I wouldnt dream of having children in my financial situation at the moment even though i have a roof over my head and food on the table.

Yet these people in the third world are starving, have no clean water, have no decent homes and have all sorts of diseases yet they STILL bring children into the world. After all the sh*t they go through they still see it fit to inflict it on a new born child.

These people have no sympathy from me.

I will never donate to these charities because the cycle will always come around.

Whats your take on this?

I wouldn't give money to these people, because there are people in my own country who could use the money as well, like the homeless, or people with disabilities or something. So people in other countries can wait, or they can get money from people in their own country.

Thats true Pubu. We have dick heads like Lenny Henry and Bob Geldof telling us to shell out money for other countries when its our own people who should be taken care of.

UK Charities get commercials yes, but none of them get full scale annual televised marathons like 'Comic Relief' and 'Children in Need'

Do you have people in the UK starving to death like people in the third world? Do you have people dying of diarrhea and other illnesses that can easily be cured?

I think a big misconception about giving money to third world countries is that the money being used will just help promote aids and more children. However, there's been many studies (including one done by our best friend, Bill Gates) that prove that giving money to them will help educate them and give them a little more to live for then just sexual desire.

The thing is...people in the UK and America (UK especially, you crazy socialists) have plenty of chances to get a job and make a life of themselves. Even if they can't, are too lazy or just too stupid...there's plenty of programs and money to help them get going. That's not to say that homelessness isn't a problem, it is, but in comparison it's not the same at all.

People in Africa don't have a Salvation Army or YMCA to stay at for the night. They don't have welfare.

These people have been recieving aid from us for a few decades now yet there is still no reduction in child births.

There's great evidence that indicates the more education we provide for them the more responsible they will be about having children and having sex.

You also have to remember, in regards to Africa, we've been screwing these people over for the last 100 years or so. For all the money we give them there are still numerous corporations who are building plants in their farm lands and forcing them to have labor jobs that don't pay enough for basic necessities.

Well until that day comes where they can understand that they shouldnt me having so many children.. they wont be getting a penny from me. Over the last few decades ive seen the same crying children and the same pleas. If all the money that they recieved is supposed to be educating them (WHich alot of money has) then they are obviously slow learners and still continue to bring children into those awful conditions.

I know a few people from Africa who have received aid money as children and as adults and it greatly benefited their lives.

One of them is in medical school and ranked very high within his class. So it's not as if money does nothing.

Those are some pretty sad attitudes toward the most disadvantaged people in the world.

A little out of our pockets goes a long way over there, which is why I would support virtually any African aid packages to come out of congress. I'm very skeptical about those TV charities, so I don't give to them, but I'd be happy to pay an extra dollar in taxes if it means we're sending $300 million over there.

The very thought that we should say to a whole people that you can no longer have sex, you can no longer show your love with your significant other, is pretty sick.

They have nothing else. It's not like they can watch tv to take their mind off it.

Miakal's right, the reason they're ####ed up is because they spend their lives growing cash crops for very little actual cash, things like coffee, so that corporations can save a few bucks. Due to this they are left with very little actual food.

Requesting that people no longer breed sounds an awful lot like genocide to me.
