I hate that typical "American" comment. (For lack of a better term, not dissing on America. Just that's the typical argument 'soccer' fans tend to hear from NFL US fans about why NFL is better. Not saying that's the only one, it's just a poor argument.) Why should a sport be diminished just because you don't have to be three men wide to be any good..? I just do not understand that mentality. So 'soccer' players look like normal blokes.. so what? They're extremely skilled at what they do, and no matter what you might think, they are EXTREMELY fit and the sport can be very physical. You play a competitive match, slide tackles and all, you'll see what I mean. Of course never on a par with the physicality of NFL or rugby, but still physical. That's not to say that sports more reliant on physical strength don't require skill. Rugby, NFL, hockey, and to a lesser extent boxing, all require mental agility as well as physical strength. All sports have their own merits, don't hate on something just 'cos they're not all 6'6 and 20 stone. Just if you really hate on 'soccer' that much.. think of a decent argument. :p |

It's the most popular sport in the world, and you have to be in GREAT shape to play it. It's like matt damon said in Dogma: "Mass genocide is the most exhausting thing you can do...that, and soccer"

We play football real football. ::spinoff::

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | i don't think anyone was comparing football to soccer, i think the comparison was hockey to soccer, and yes soccer players are pussies compared to hockey players. i watched a soccer player take a soccer ball to the head and drop like he was shot. i've then seen hockey players get hit in the face with a frozen puck (which hurts a helluva lot more than a soccer ball let me tell you) go to the bench, get stictched up in the hallway behind the bench then go right back out on the ice again. sure you gotta be in shape to play soccer, but you can be in shape and still be a pussy. |
