Do you know anyone who has dropped out of College/University to do something else? Did it work out?

It's funny. As you go to college you constantly meet people who are leaving it. Mostly their whiny reasons are the same, and I'd be a liar if I didn't share the same feelings once in awhile.

What becomes of these people? It's a mystery. Sometimes they go to another school and sometimes they don't make it doing anything. I have a cousin who dropped out of Jr. College and now is a millionaire. If that was the norm I would've joined him.

What's the point where college is something that no longer works for that person? Is college for everyone? Should people get at least a degree in something?

Tough questions. Discuss.

Most college kids are ####ing stupid. All they care about is drinking and partying. By the time they graduate, they have no brain cells left to function in the work world.

My friend Matt dropped to part time schooling to do tiling. He was basically slowly dropping out.

Now he's done tiling, but his schooling is...eh.

Won't be surprised if he drops out reaaaaaaaaal soon.

When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

A friend of mine got a full-paid soccer scholarship to a school in New York (forget the name), but she just hated it and came home like a month later.

For those that do party and drink their way through college, it is a waste of time, at least from an intellectual point of view. These are the people that manage to scrape by and get their degree without really learning anything. From a realistic point of view, it's definately worth slugging it out to get that Bachelors degree, even if you don't learn anything. The numbers that compare the salaries of those with college degrees to those without are pretty convincing. Although, with more and more morons getting college degrees, a bachelors degree is becoming less and less valuble and soon I imagine it won't be worth much more than a high school diploma.

It amazes me to see some people at my school in particular that have gotten as far as they have. It's the hardest school in the country to get into (regarding % admitted), yet there's still people that just seem like absolute morons in my classes. I've heard similar things from friends in other high ranking schools. I'm not even talking about private schools that you can buy you're way into. How do they do it?

The system weeds out the weak, trust me. Those who can party and enjoy the social life while pulling the grades are the same people who are going to make it in the professional world since they'll be able to balance a professional and social schedule. The exception of course is ubernerds who never really leave the lab, but make boatloads of money for their 100+ hour weeks.

Guys who pass w/Cs and no extracurriculars are the same guys who wind up wasting their parents' money in the end, as they could've gone to a cheap state school and accomplished the same thing. They wind up with decent employment, but very little to get excited about. I wish more kids knew just how much college counts - so many people I went to school w/basically derailed themselves by screwing up first semester freshman year and put themselves in a hole.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who are dropping out of school right now. These A Levels, theyre fricken hard, and people are dropping out like flies.

Im in the first year of my A Level course and take for example the people who are doing their 2nd year now, they halfed in numbers when they started their 2nd year. There was like 120 and now theres about 50, theres only 94 people in my year and about 20 have dropped out and its only November.

Its ####ing crazy. One of the guys is just a pure idiot, he dropped out last year before the end of October, he decided to repeat and come back this year, he dropped out a week ago and plans to come back and repeat next year. He'll be ####ing 20 before he leaves high school (Although its a college course, its in my crappy high school).

Give it time

Everything I need to know I learned from reading the holy book, The Koran! The Ayatollah has never set foot inside a classroom. School is for the weak-minded. Allah encourages every one of you to drop out right now. You will lead longer and healthier lives.

"The actions of a true martyr are awe inspiring, humbling and beautiful.

Everyone will be rewarded and paid in full for their actions by Allah. Therefore there should be no fear of injustice and there should be no fear of death."
