It shouldn't be any secret by now that the Red Sox want to drop Manny Ramirez so they don't have to pay his $100,000,000 contract. If Ramirez isn't claimed by another team by midnight tommorow, he will remain on the Red Sox. The Yankees are one of the few teams who have enough money pay his contract. Do you think the Yankees will sign Manny Ramirez?

Without giving an explanation, I'll say yes.

Nope, I'm pretty sure they're trying to land Vlad, Vidro, or Vazquez and they'll need bank to do that.

It would be interesting if they did sign him. Especially with that whole issue with Don Zimmer.

i really hope they dont. Ramirez is a great hitter, but he cant run the bases or play defense. If they're gonna pay a shitload for an outfielder, they should try to land vlad guerrero. at least then they'll have someone in the outfield who can throw a guy out from time to time

Priority #1 for the yanks should be re-signing Pettitte.

Mark my words, Yankeefan - Pettite is going to be paid way too much money. He's clutch in the playoffs, sure, but I wouldn't pay him like $10 mm a year for his services.

How much does Beckett get paid? He's a much better pitcher than Pettitte, and Pettitte probably gets paid more.

pettitte already made 11.5 million a year last year

12, 21, 18, 16, 14, 19, 15, 13 (missed 10 starts due to injury), 21

Those are Pettitte's win totals every year of his career. 149 wins in 9 seasons. thats an average of 16.5 wins per season. plus hes a lefty, which caters to yankee stadium. most importantly, he's consistent, and we already know he can handle the pressure of pitching in NY, which many pitchers have not been able to handle

Beckett was only 9-8 this year. and he's only 23, so i'm sure he's still on his first contract. it wasnt until the postseason that he really made a name for himself. i'm sure if he keeps it up he'll make what pettitte's making and more when his current contract is up

Zero chance in hell of the Yanks claiming Manny, he's making way too much money even for them. They seem much more interested in Guerrero (who I don't think will end up in a big-market city).

I'll honestly bet you money that the Yankees sign Vlad. There have been talks about Vidro and Vazquez being traded for Soriano.
