I think it should be banned in all public places. No sh*t tobacco companies will claim it isn't harmful. But no matter what they claim the reality is that it is harmful. One of my moms friends died last year because of second hand smoke so that is just one sign of how harmful it is. Also it can easily target an asthma attack if somebody has it. My mom does so I know. I hate going to a place where a bunch of clueless idiots are smoking. It smells awful, makes you smell awful until you get a shower and wash your clothes and it is harmful.

I also hate the commercials that they make expecting you to feel sorry for somebody who is going to die because they smoked. It is there own fault so why am I supposed to care ::sleepy::

I feel some sorrow for them, ultimately it is their fault, but its not as if tobacco companies arent trying to (Literally) shove cigarettes down our throats. Advertising, promotions, re-assuring "tests" that tobacco companies run, its pretty ####ed up.

Give it time

The thing i dont understand is.. When there is a drug problem, the Drug Dealers take the heat for it.. but when it comes to smokers.. the smokers themselves are to blame instead of the people who sell tobacco.

All non smokers refer to the habit as 'disgusting' or 'stupid' and other similar words.. but they all forget to include the word 'addictive'

It annoys me when a non smoker can cast such comments when they themselves have never been enveloped in the addiction.

Yes it may be addictive, but who was "stupid" enough to start smoking in the first place? Not the tobacco company.

[quote:post_uid0="Platinium Pubu"]But I believe that some restaurants should be non-smoking and some should be smoking.[/quote:post_uid0]
Apartheid in South Africa started when different races were seperated - seperating people into groups does not work. It causes more friction and tension, as one group (or both for that matter) will think the other group is getting a better deal.

I think smoking should be banned, in all places. Full stop. Why should I have to breathe in other peoples smoke? It's so ####ing selfish to expect this. And parents who smoke - it's sick. They may as well get their kid drunk and stoned every night, because they're shortening their life every time they light a cigarette.

I don't think the label smoker or non-smoker falls into the same category as race, at least not to this degree (race can be a loose term I realize, but what you are talking about in South Africa isn't the same as this).

People should be able to smoke if they want to. Who is the Government to say what people can do with their bodies? What's next, no sugar?

I think smoking should be reserved for bars and even then there should be limitations (tax breaks to places that are smoke free).

I agree with whoever said that bars aren't exactly health stations anyway. If they are willing to pour poison down the chute then there's no reason why they can't breath in cancer at the same time.

(btw, alcohol causes cancer too. democrats as well...according to fox news)
