Rep Power: 19 ![]() | I'm not sure what it's like in other countries but in America the two political parties rule nearly everything in this country. I think it's about high time that we move on from that old belief. The country needs to be able to see a lot more in regards to who can run for President than two people. Don't you think? What's the real opposition to this? Most Democrat and Republicans I know don't agree with many things within their party. By having different sides and different shades of each party you'd be able to find a candidate who better connects to you. Further, I think this would help a great deal with two other things. One, more people would have a reason to vote. If we can widen the possibility of a citizen finding someone who shares the same beliefs as them then obviously they'll try harder to take part in the voting process. Second, it would be harder for big pay-offs to take place on one or two parties if you have a bunch of different possibilites going on outside of them. I believe that third and forth party members should be given a certain amount of air-time on tv, just as the main contenders do, and they should be given a spot with them as well. Further, more debates are needed so we can have a better array of ideas exchanged back and forth. If you get a third and forth guy in the mix then the main two will be less likely to be so stiff and rhetorical. |

Rep Power: 9 ![]() | I would love to see third parties get federal funding to make them slightly more competetive with the big two. With some serious campaign finance reform, we may one day see some of these other parties become trully competitive. We're on our way I think because more and more people are leaving major parties to join other parties or be independant. If we can get Green, Reform, and Liberarian candidates to gain serious support, then I think we should create a primary election to narrow it down to 2. Having an election with more than 2 candidates has a number of problems; [i:post_uid0]See: California Recall[/i:post_uid0]. Imagine a presidential election that consisted of a Green Party member v. a Liberatarian. That would be amazing and great for the country. |

Rep Power: 42 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the two-party system is ####ing stupid. i read an article yesterday talking about how one Democratic presidential candidate (i think Howard Dean,...i dont really follow politics too closely ::spinoff:: ) is being slandered by the other Democartic candidates because he voted for some policies that were deemed "Republican". So, basically, every Democrat has to have a certain point of view, and every Republican has to have an opposing point of view. ####ing retarded. If you're a politician and you have your own views you get ridiculed and alienated by your own "party" | |
