Rep Power: 6  | Canada is a bordering nation and one of America's largest trading partners, I'm not expecting every American to name all 10 provinces but most should at the very least know who our PM is and where our capital is located. We're not talking quantum physics here. |

Rep Power: 0 | Freak, Let me ask you a question. Are you taking a survey? Maybe it's just the 5 people you talked to that didn't know anything about Canada. Obviously they don't give a rats ass about Canada. Why should they anyway? Did you head over to the local univeristy and ask them what B.C. was? What I am getting at is, "You can't classify 250 - 300 million Americans on the expierences you had in 2 states with maybe 20 people. Think before you post. There are a lot of people who learn sh*t about Canada, they just might not care enough to remember it. They are also a lot of us who are educated. I know a lot of Southerners who are smarter than Northeners. I've been up to WV and Ohio and met some fine people. |

I found it amazing how much stuff I could purchase with my American money. I was told that at the time the exchange rate had never been higher. This was like 6 years ago. I will go out on a limb here and say that not much of Canada is known to most Americans simply because there is no real reason to. Nothing personal. We are just a very selfish country that really only cares about ourselves. There is no excuse for it. And to boot, most Americans dont know much about America, so dont take it to harsh. We have some very stupid people. This reminds me of a story....... One time Howard Stern (US's biggest AM radio DJ) asked 90210's Tori Spelling some questions because he likes to torment people that he thinks are unintelligent. He asked her what the capital of New York was. Her answer New Jersey. NEW JERSEY ??!?!?! What the hell what that? My daughter is 2 and she knows that New Jersey is a state. Some people just dont have a clue. I also heard a stat once that as many a 30% of all Americans dont know all 50 states, or that there are 50 states. I find this state to this day very hard to believe but there are a ton of uneducated people out there. [b:post_uid0]mainly down south, LOL[/b:post_uid0] Wait, one more rambling story........ One time my buddy and I were in Florida on vacation and we were at the Supermarket buying some beer and we couldnt find anyone our age at bars, the beach.....anywhere. I saw this really hot girl and asked her what they do for fun around her parts and her answer............ Mudding. MUDDING?!?!? What the hell is that?!!? Apparently mudding is when the girls boyfriends take there 4X4 trucks in the mud pits and see how much mud they can get on their buddies truck via the tires. I then laughed in her face and thanked god I wasnt a Southener. | |

First of all, welcome to the board; it's always nice to see educated people 'round these parts. More importantly, don't jump to conclusions. I wouldn't dream of judging your whole country on the basis of the 35 people I talked to. I was just pointing out that 1 out of 35 people recognizing "British Columbia" is pretty bad, considering it's fairly close to the size of your biggest state. Read before you post, pal. | |
