Time Travel - Will it ever be possible?

I for one think that Time Travel is, and always will be impossible.

For one.. we have proof of this all around us. If time travel was possible in the future then horrible events wouldnt have happened in the past. Things like sept 11th wouldnt have happened because someone in the future will no doubt try to avert this disaster.. Hitler wouldnt have gotten to power.. etc

Another thing.. even if someone DID go back and stop Sept 11th from happening.. they wouldnt Need to go back in time to prevent it.. because it would have never have happened.

And dont start with that 'other dimension' or 'other planes of existence' nonsense because it will have no bearing on us whatsoever.


Does anyone wish to challenge this theory?

Well let me ask you something, what if another Hitler was born and someone went back in time and killed him and he basicly was never born. How would we today know about it? There could have been tons of things that were changed by someone who went back in time and we no nothing about it because it was already changed.

Just something to think about.

Well if there were to be a time travel then it would at some point be regulated and controled and maybe there is somethings that can not or are not allowed to be stopped because they might have ended up causing something even worse to happen so they had to be left alone. Who knows, maybe changing them would make things worse or alter the future for the worse.

But then what would be the point in travelling through time? Just purely for observation? I dont buy that for a second. Its in mans nature to abuse any form of power he has.

Ahh but you are assuming that it is a time when Humans are only as evolved as we are now. Who knows what could happen in the future and who knows how things will be. It is possible to be regulated and or not even need to be. At the time that it would be possible, maybe we have changed so much that we are far different then we are now.

And as for not changing things in the fear of making things worse.. how can things get worse than the holocaust?


strange.. as im typing this I can see your point. By leaving these things intact and allowing them to happen.. People are more aware and can then take measures to prevent them happening again..

I think it makes a lot of sense. Well as for what could be worse, What if someone that died in the war was worse then Hitler and actually was smart enough to win the war and end up taking over the planet etc. This is also the theory I use for beliving in Aliens. Kind of like the Prime Directive in Star Trek.

There is no possible way you could ripple through time to go back. There isnt even a feasible way to comprehend how it could be done.

Not meant to talk down or anything. I re-read it and it may be taken that way. I am just trying to throw out the mass.


Also, if it was possible,which its not, then there would have been clues and mishaps by now plus evidence proving it could happen. There is none. ::

I agree with Simon. Time travel is just not possible. Just think about the concept for a second.

You are making very big assumptions there Simon. How do you know? To say it is impossible when in fact people would have said the same thing back in time if you told them that one day we would be traveling in flying carriages and talking to people thousands of mils away with something smaller then your hand they would think you were crazy. Anything is possible and just because you can't comprehend it doesn't mean it can't exist. And necro, you want to think about something? Think about how it is possible for space to end, and if it were to end how would it because wouldn't something else have to exist after it? and if something were to exist after it then wouldn't that mean that there could never be an end to any existence? So if you can't explain something that does exist how can you say something is impossible just because you can't imagine, comprehend or explain it?
