How can the US be a free country when you cant even gamble online? How can you be free when your goverment signed into law the PATRIOT ACT?

I dont get it :3s: how can they tell you that you cant gamble online? :umbrella: Isn't it a free World? I really dont get it.

America is very much a free country.

I have just heard about this gambling on-line thing and admittedly, I know nothing about it. But it is still legal to gamble in places in the U.S. like Las Vegas.

As for the Patriot Act, again admittedly I don't know that much about it and I don't really care. It has never affected me. But from what I do know about it, it really only affects those that are tied to terrorists activities. If you are not tied to terrorists activities you have nothing to worry about. Again that is just my opinion.

No country is truly free. If it was a free country people could run the streets and murder people or do whatever the hell they wanted to do. Then that country would turn out like Iraq was with a leader forcing his way to power and abusing the citizens of the country and doing whatever he wanted to.

Perhaps the reason it may become illegal is because of the same reason drugs are illegal. Nothing good really comes out of most cases except empty pockets and ruined lives.

The government believes they are protecting their people. Either that or they simply aren't making any money off these "off shore" sites.

American Money is leaving this country at at high rate via online gambling.

Exactly. The only reason they banned gambling online is because they dont make any money out of it. If they cared like you say, they would ban gambling alltogether. Isnt it wrong for your government to take that freedom away from you guys?????

The U.S. Government does not mind if you do stuff that's bad for you (i.e. cigarettes and booze) as long as they can tax it. They can't tax online gambling, so they're trying to stop it, instead of embracing it like the UK has.

It's so stupid...anybody who wants to gamble or do drugs can do so fairly easily in the U.S. Instead of embracing this and bringing in additional tax revenue, they'd rather try to take the supposed moral high ground and try to stop it, even though it will NEVER happen.

As for the Patriot Act, whatever...It's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be, and if I have to be slightly inconvenienced to ensure that nobody flies a plane into the building where I work, so be it

I cannot believe this. Who cares if you gamble or dont gamble online....who cares if its not a big deal cause you can still gamble in other places...the point is that your freedom was taken away. You were told you cant gamble online cause your government cant make money out of you that way.

Comparing banning on-line gambling to banning orange juice is laughable. It would be better compared to banning downloading songs on the net.

I don't really see the big deal. If they try to ban freedom of speech, freedom of religion, or the right to bear arms, then the shit will hit the fan.
