What I mean by language barrier is foreign countries such as us to the US, speaking English but saying things that they don't understand and using words that they themselves don't use. It's not just to do with distance because to be fair, to us English, a lot of the time it seems like Scottish people are speaking another language and sometimes it's the same for the Irish accent.
With accents it's just that some people with them speak too quickly at time for us to understand them. An example for me is, just now when I was listening to Football legend and nower days pundit Gary McAllister who spoke for quite a while and spoke so quickly that I didn't get anything of what he said in the slightest. Another example would be when I was playing Stevo (PeaceSells) on Xbox Live quite a while ago, there were times that I couldn't understand him either... sorry Steven. Does anyone else have trouble with accents at times?

Since I don't come in contact with a different accents in real life, I'll go by Xbox Live. When I was playing with Stevo (PeaceSells for those who don't know who that is) I could barley understand what he was saying. I understood a couple things we was saying, but it didn't matter since I couldn't understand the rest of the sentence. I just said "yeah" after everytime he said something, so he was prolly thinking "wtf?"

A lot of Mexicans with their terrible broken English. It's hard to understand. Overall though I don't have to much of a problem since they are the only ones I really run in to.
I have no problem understanding Mexicans for some reason. I don't even come in contact with them a whole lot. Maybe I'm secretly Mexican To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I have never spoken to a Mexican in person before but I do understand Spanish people quite easily when I go on vacation there.

I'll have trouble understanding people with accents at first, but give me 5 minutes in a conversation with them and I'll have probably picked it up myself. I have a rep who is based out of Georgia, and after telephone conversations with him, I'll be speaking in a southern accent for probably the next hour.
Scottish accents are funny drive for 30 minutes and you've got a new accent which to me sounds like a different accent for such a small country we have way to many dialects and accents lol
