This is a discussion on Poppies within the General Discussion forums, part of the Non Wrestling Forums category; Doesn't seem like a US kind of thing tbh, I've not heard of them either....

We have American Flag pins or ribbons that say "Support or Troops" or something to that effect.

Hm, I also have never heard of this. I'll have to try and keep a lookout for them. As Dak said..I've seen ribbons and such that say "Support Our Troops" though.
The poppy commemorates those who have died in war. The tradition was started by American teacher Moina Bell Michael, who sold silk poppies to friends to raise money for the ex-service community. In 1920 the poppy was proclaimed the national emblem of remembrance in the US, and in the UK, the first poppy day was in 1921.
I thought I read that it was started in the US.

Re: Poppies
Yep. Buy one every year and wear it every day. It's kind of expected in my job (Financial Adviser) when you're meeting elderly clients in particular. But I always did it anyway. My father was a veteran of WW2 so it's kind of ingrained that I do
