I've not been diagnosed or anything, but I'm fairly sure I have this. Just wondering if any other WC members have either been diagnosed with OCD, or suspect that they probably do have it? I used to think it just meant stupid stuff like not being able to leave stuff alone, having to keep washing your hands etc, but it's actually more of a mental thing, as in constantly thinking about stuff you don't want to, constantly questionning everything about yourself until you lose perspective of things.
I heard it referred to as the "doubting disease" and that is what convinced me that I probably do have it. I'm always doubting everything and it gets annoying when you can't just let stuff go and stop constantly questionning yourself and your thoughts.
Anybody have any experience of this? You have it? Friends or family maybe?

I have it, a little. It doesn't affect me to the point where I have a nervous breakdown or anything, but things nag me that they otherwise wouldn't if I wasn't the quasi-perfectionist that I am.
I have my closet organized in sections by garment, so if I see a shirt out of place for example, it's going to piss me off until I put it where it needs to be.

My room is a total mess and I don't care. I really don't have what people traditionally think of when they hear the term OCD at all. It is more the mental stuff and questionning everything.

if i scratch a part on one side of the body i have to scratch the other or if i touch a strange bit of material mostly velvet i have to do it with the other hand. I dont know if counts as OCD but i always need to know where my remote control is, even if the TV isnt on. I actually go a bit mad when i dont know where it is.
I have heard that some of it has something to with counting.
It also involves the irrational fear of bad things happening if you don't do certain things.
For example, sometimes if I accidentally bump something with my hand I will bump it 9 times (for the number of people in my extended family) for the fear of something bad happening if I don't.
I have pretty much quit that though. It was worse when I was younger.

Same here.
Not really sure what OCD is but I have much of the symptoms Tom explained in the OP, so I could be a victim of it.
I think it's something to do with priorities in life. If it's concerning something that is a high priority your more attached to it, so more likely to think about the situation and doubt yourself. But if it's a lesser priority, like education or something, which you may not care about, then you don't worry too much about exams, etc.
