I was trying to get to sleep last night, my family is away so i'm staying at home on my own for a few days, and I kept hearing banging noises coming from the living room downstairs. I just put the blame on the dogs and went back to bed, needless to say I got up this morning and everything was fine and dandy. But not everyone's like that, if you hear something go bump in the night, do you blame it on your pets? Grab the nearest harmful object, and check whatever it is, out? Think nothing of it and go back to sleep? Or do you just assume it's a member of your family stumbling as they make their way to the bathroom in the dark?
Don't worry, it's probably just a burglar...or at very least a cult Nazi time travelling rapist....sleep well.
I usually just ignore small noises, and go back to bed. But I got robbed a few weeks back and I have been really jumpy ever since. Just the other night during a thunderstorm every single noise I heard woke me up again.

Thunderstorms are very relaxing for me. Last night we had one and a downpour and I slept like a baby. Before I dozed off I even came up with a great idea for a story. So yeah... <3 thunderstorms. Bet that would change if I was robbed though, but then again I'm not exactly sure what they'd want to rob.

I have trouble sleeping sometimes, but that doesn't stem from noises. The only noises that really wake me up are my dad's tv (his room's right next to mine) or my brother downstairs playing the game or something. I'm the same as Crest Fall, I quite enjoy a good thunderstorm. I'll sleep right through them when everyone else says that a particular one kept them up.
I have heard odd noises before though. Footsteps and the like. The one that jumps out the most, I was simply hearing footsteps out on the landing between my room and my dad's. They were distinct footsteps, they weren't little creaks that could be misconstrued as footsteps. I didn't think anything of it because the stairs are right there as well, so I figured someone was coming upstairs or something. I fell back asleep only to awake again by the noise. This time it sounded like somone was walking back and forth between our rooms. I thought my dad was doing something in the attic so I got up to see wtf he was doing. He wasn't up. Then I heard the same noise downstairs, went down to check, no one was awake. I said fug it and went back to bed.
