It's estimated that we spend one third to one half of our walking hours daydreaming. Whether it's reliving the past, playing through scenarios, or other, we spend an awful lot of time doing it.
Sometimes I feel like I daydream too often and it takes away from what I should be doing, but I think it's also a very healthy practice because it helps me plan for the future.
I could definitely see how it can become a detriment because a lot of times I'll be daydreaming without even knowing it and when I snap back to reality, I look around like "where the fuck am I?" .. I think it's part of having a lot of built up anxiety.
How about you? Do you daydream a lot and what about?
I do it on occasion usually in situations when I'm really bored. A lot of times when there nothing going on at work I find myself thinking how awesome it would be to have a ton of money and not be at work. I also do it when I'm driving which really isn't a good thing, seeing as how I'll be spacing out and then realise I'm in my driveway already.

I daydream alot more than I should. Especially during school. I should be focusing on completing an assignment but instead I'm thinking of something I'm excited about or something I wish would happen. And then when I snap out of it, it feels like I blacked out and I look around awkwardly and mentally slap myself for not paying attention. I also daydream myself to sleep if that makes sense. I'll just lay there and imagine how I'd like my future to be or I'll try to predict what's going to happen tomorrow until I fall asleep. A friend of mine said it's a good thing because it shows that I have a good imagination. Others have said that I'm going to daydream my life away.

I just wish things were like they used to be. The present sucks.

It happens and I don't even know I'm doing it until someone tells me I'm gazing into space or I snap out of it and realise myself. I do it way to much for my own good.

As a writer, it's sort of an obligation to daydream. Then again, I haven't exactly thought of anything worthwhile in a long time. Regardless, even if I do it for my writing I do it a bit too much. Tacked on with my procrastination, it's a bad habit I need to break.
I generally concentrated in school though. Only time I really daydreamed was in Math. Sure, you could say that that's why I suck at Math, but I was a lost cause when I stopped giving a fuck.

I used to do it more as a kid. I used to be constantly lost in my own world. But these days, its like theres so much going on in the world that I rarely find the time.
But every night, as Im going to sleep, I daydream - I think about things that have happened in the past, whats gone on that day and what Id like to happen in the future.
