Monk's Book recommendations

I was walking around the bookstore tonight, and they always have a selection of books recommended for staff. I thought we could each pick some books and recommend them to others on the board. It doesn’t have to be you're favorite book, but something you think the others members might like. And if any of you recommend The Davinci Code I will kill you.

I am going to go with a classic here and suggest To Kill a Mockingbird. I read it in grade 10, and will go back and read it once and a while, and still love it. Ladies, (or guys, who am I to judge), if you are a romantic, you must read Pride and Prejudice. And if you like books about drug recovery and such, like A Million Little Pieces, read Postcards from the Edge by Carrie Fisher. It manages to be brilliant, hysterical, bitter, sad and witty all at the same time. And it's semi-autobiographical, which makes it all the more interesting.

Watchers by Dean Koontz.

It's old but an excellent thriller and one of his best books.

October Sky by Homer Hickam is a pretty good read. And it happened is W.V. too so that is pretty cool.

Yeah it does have a good storyline.

Chewy, I think you would be interested in a book written about my hometown.

No joke. The book is titled Crum (which is the name of my hometown) by Lee Maynard. It takes place around the 1950's. I think you would enjoy it.

It is a somewhat true story about the authors experiences of growing up in the small town of Crum. But there are some funny moments in there that I think you would like. Pretty funny at some points.
