Well today has been a really shitty day at work where everything that can go wrong did go wrong, I only work part time in a coffee shop but there are certain things about the job that gets to the workers who I work alongside such as customers being blatant dicks, the mess they leave, the stupidity of some customers and just the job in general.
Well today first of all the toilet got blocked and I wasn't going anywhere near it so the toilet just got locked and an out of order sign was put up, leaving us to endere countless customers asking why the toilet was locked despite the sign and asking what happened. Then there was small things like someone fucking up on the order so we had little of everything, people smashing things.
At 3 today with a huge line out of the door we noticed that 2 of the 5 workers in were going which was a blatant fuck up by our manager, again only caring about shifts that he is working. It left us understaffed for the rest of the day, rushed off of our feet.
Then to top it off, while cleaning down with about 15 mins before I could come home, one of our girls with a brain the size of a fucking ant decided to see what flushing the blocked toilet would do and when the toilet wasn't doing anything she continuely flushed despite me telling her to not fucking do that. Well we thought nothing of it for a few mins until water started to fill the shop. We stayed an extra 45 mins cleaning the water up because of one workers fuck up.
Well I seem to be the only one that in situations like that, can stay calm and through the full day I was the only person to keep my cool all day, I just don't see a point in losing it, it doesn't help any.

Re: Keeping your cool
Working in retail is an epically shitty job especially on Sundays, managers don't seem to realise that Sunday is a fecking busy day and that just because they're not working the shop will be quiet.
I was quite lucky in my retail jobs that i had bosses who let me get on with my own departments after a while.

Well it's not just that Sundays are busier than managers realise, you're English so you obviously know that this time of the year is when the school holidays are just starting, enough said.

I'm just a cool and collected person really, plus the fact that the girl in question is leaving soon so I know for a fact she wouldn't give a shit if I did flip out on her, she was laughing the whole time it was being cleaned up and that just shows that.

I used to work in a Eurospar. One day some woman came in complaining about not having some detergent. My response was "well then fuck off to tesco". I cant believe she didnt complain to the manager To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
in general im very relaxed and usually end up taking the piss out of situations that should get me pissed off
Despite me seeming like a relaxed laid-back guy on here, I have such a short temper in real life. I explode at the most trivial and petty of things, so I think if I was in your situation, Dmac, shit would be going down.

Work is a drag. I work at a McDonalds, and being in South Texas, things get weird.
A typical group of coworkers/customers looks like this,
-The two mexican speaking ladies who can make a Big Mac in 5 seconds flat. They get the job done, but so help me god if you have to ask them to do something on the fly. And during slow times, avoid conversations with these people at all cost. They will tell you stories of how they raised 5 kids on $10 in some sort of broken English/Mexican language that would have the best of linguist in a mindfuck.
-The two managers who know english, but still cant speak it worth a damn. These are the people that have been serving the McProducts since 2001. I tried calling them up earlier this morning to find out when I go into work. A mexican accent is muffled as it is, add in the cheap phone they speak through and once again you get a language that is unrecognizable.
-The retard. Its hard to get mad at this person. It really is. But it is NOT fun to work with them.
-The two just turned 16 year old white kids who are dumb as hell, or nerdy as fuck. Think Elias from Clerks 2.
-The people who cannot comprehend that theres is a difference between an Expresso, a Cappuchino, a Mocha, and how it is any different than coffee. The McCafe expansion is the single worst thing invested in from an employee stand point. I think the coffee results in more complaints than anything else.
God, if my best friend didn't work there, I would contemplate going of a McMurderous rampage. Luckily I only have about 3 weeks left until I move. When I get to University im going to try and get a campus job where my coworkers are (hopefully) educated.
How I deal with stress? I listen and play music. Music for me is a great stress reliever and is why I'm studing it in College.
