Going abroad

So is anyone planning on going anywhere abroad lately, have you booked anything or just planning right now?

Have you been anywhere abroad lately for any reason, business or holiday or whatever?

Have you ever been abroad or is it one of those things that you want to do?

Finally, if you have been abroad where is the nicest place you have been to?

Well I haven't been abroad for maybe two years and aren't really planning on it as of late, but I love Benidorm in Spain, I have been there 9 times and have stayed in the same hotel (Hotel Venus) all 9 times, I just love the place.

Re: Going abroad

Going to California for my honeymoon in September, pretty darn excited.

nicest places i've been to were Munich and Brussels there's something about the continental cities that's so much nicer than ours.

Best holiday was to Koutaloufari in Crete, belting weather and really nice people too

Re: Going abroad

I'll be going in August. Nowhere in particular, I always book a couple of days before. Beaches all look the same so it doesn't matter to me where I go.

Re: Going abroad

We're just planning right now, well, my parents are. They where thinking Turkey, but after the stories i've read about the place, I don't fancy going there. I've been abroad quite alot, to Marbella, Ibiza, Greece, Menorca, ect, and this year i'm hoping to go to Ibiza or Greece again in August. On top of that, the place I loved the most was New York. The shops, the restaurants, everything there was amazing, and i'm praying that I get to go there again in December - actually scrap that, the best place i've been to was Belgium. We went there as a history class, I got to go twice, anyways we visted all these War Memorials, Trenches, and The Somme, it was just an awesome experience, and seeing as history is my favorite subject, I enjoyed learning about what happened in the war. I'd actually reccomend anybody who hasn't been, to go, even people who hated history (in the first year), ended up loving Belgium. The only downside of the trip was the millions of spiders on the graves, i actually took a pic of one of the spiders here;

- there was a massive nest of them outside the place we stayed too, like dozens. Anyways, it was a brilliant Trip and i'd certainly go again.

Istanbul is a wonderful city it all depends on where you go as to what kind of place you'll get.
The beach resorts around Euorpe all blend into one with Brits unable to handle their beer and PR bods desparate to get you into their bar/club/restaraunt

Picking a city sounds hard simply because you've never been there before, and reviews only tell you so much, you know? On top of that, I can't count the amount of times i've read about Turkish men harassing women, and everything. Not saying that's every Turkish man, but even my friends who went there said they got followed by them, and they where 13/14 back then. I'd personally love to go to Turkey to watch the football, if Liverpool where playing, I was close to seeing them in Greece but I had exams that week.

Re: Going abroad

I’m going away to the Greek Island of Kos in a few weeks time, for a week with a few friends. I’m very much looking forward to it, as it’s my first vacation for 2 years.

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many different countries. Australia, Jamaica and the US are amongst my favourite destinations. If I were to narrow it down, I would say my trip to New York in ’07 would probably be my favourite vacation ever.

Re: Going abroad

The only time I've been anywhere in the last few years is when I went to Hamburg for my year abroad at uni, and the weather there is worse than here.

I actually miss going to sunny places.

Leeds is as far abroad as I'll get this year. And I care, not a jot.

Re: Going abroad

The furthest i've gone from here is Canberra for a school excursion. Very fun, but we went during winter, and it gets very cold up in Canberra in winter. Saw Parliment House, and all that kinda jazz. But i've never left Australia. Would love to go to the UK and see England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales and places like that, as many of my ancestors came from Cornwall, Scotland etc.
