I'm for assisted suicide. Like some of us have said, if someone's suffering from a final stage of an illness or in excruciating pain and don't have the strength to commit suicide, someone can end your life for you. It's a bitch that people go through these horrors of illness or pain, it has to end. Terri Schiavo was in a vegetative state since 1990 and in her mind, she was trapped in her mind of a hellish cell, unresponsive and struggling to communicate. 15 years, they finally removed the feeding tube from her and let her passed on. It had to be done.

I'm for it so long as it's thoroughly regulated in a legal manner else you're going to have all sorts of issues. Contractual obligation springs to mind, cos else if not you're going to have people commiting murder and calling it euthaniasia.
Obviously, the diagnosis has to be terminal and the person has to be suffering great pain and distress before it's an option, but when animals are sick beyond recovery, we don't allow them to suffer, so why do we allow our fellow man to?

You were on the right path until there. There is a difference between the two.

I know that honey, lol, that was the point to my post.
Euthanasia should be something that's used to help stop the suffering of, for the lack of a better term, the helpless. Those who aren't going to get better and the path of getting worse will cause them an amount of suffering.
It would need to be heavily regulated legally with regards to who a person allows to help them etc, in case of people trying to do one thing and call it another.
This is an example, but say you've got someone who is looking after a cancer sufferer. There is a small chance of a recovery, but said person decides that they can't handle looking after them and kills them. Do you call it murder or euthanasia? Because some so minded defense lawyer would call it euthanasia.
