I hope everyone has been following what is going on, as it's truly remarkable. If you haven't, there was an election (as Iran is supposedly a democratic state), and the Government said Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the current President, was re-elected with 62.6% of the vote. People in the US & around the world immediately reacted, calling the process a fraud. Other "leaked" results are showing his main competitor as actually beating him by over 4 million votes.
The young people have essentially gathered, using tools like Twitter & Friendfeed, and are rioting in the capital, Tehran. The Government is out patrolling the streets, and threatening to use live ammunition on the rioters if they do not calm down. This is huge, as you typically do not see this type of rioting in the middle east. What is especially encourage is that the young people of Iran are known to be very pro-usa, and strongly against the ayatollahs that technically "rule" the country.
And if you're not following the situation, here's a few links so you can start.
Kevin Sites, the same guy who reported on the shootings of innocent Iraqis in Fallujah, visited Iran for his "In the Hot Zone" special reporting that he did for Yahoo. Here's a link to the video of the report. In his book of the same name, he went into a little more detail and predicted the young people were building up for a revolution. He couldn't have been more right, and we might be seeing it now.
Andrew Sullivan of The Atlantic (who I'm not always the biggest fan of) covered it all day, with all sorts of links, on his Daily Dish blog. I expect that to remain a very good source for news.
I have followed it, and I can say that the smartest thing the west can do is stay out of it. Right now, they will fight each other. If we get involved, they will team up to fight us.
Now if only we didnt have a pussy president, we could invade right now and get them damn fundementalists out and it would be justifiable. We need to do something.

lmao.
The last thing a Western country needs to do right now is try and intervene.
There gooona kill the pro US people of Iran if they continue to riot if you can read, which would effectively scare any Pro US thoughts out of any citizen. Look at it from that perspective.
