On Monday, the Liberals will decide whether or not to vote against the government. The NDP and Bloc have always said they would. While I am interested to see how you feel about who, what I really want to know is you believe we should have our fourth election in five years this summer.
Personally, in many ways I am indifferent. I would like to see Harper gone. For many reasons, I feel that he has hurt the nation and voting Paul Martin out was one of the dumbest mistakes Canadians ever made. With that said, there is no going back. I also do not want to play this minority game anymore. I want a majority (obviously, I want a Liberal majority), so I would rather them wait until it is possible (though, I think it could be possible if the polls shift upward enough during an election campaign). There is discussion about how the Conservatives miscalculated the projected deficit from $30 billion to now $50 billion. I think if the Liberals hold off until closer to the end of the year, we will find that deficit at $70 billion, and it would be more prudent for Ignatiff to wait for that.
FYI - Ignatiff is not my favourite politician. But considering that Harper's party is scandal and fuck up prone, and the NDP is under the snack, Jack Layton and the Union coffers, Ignatiff is the obvious choice. Plus, the Liberal Party has enough stars to provide the inner knowledge to get the job done.
