Re: Do you have a problem with the Confederate flag?
So first off, I'd like to point out that old glory, is technically not our flag. It's considered a war flag, but seeing as how we are in a perpetual state of war, it never changes. Furthermore, while I, myself have no issues with the confederate flag, or those wishing to show "southern pride" I can see where the majority of people are coming from. Normally when I see the flag its accompanied by racial epithets, and associated with groups known for intolerance. (for instance, my former neighbor had the confederate flag plastered on the back of his windshield and below it had "Partnership for a Whiter America") So for those who wish to change the negative connotations, I suggest you start with your own kind.

wait are you saying Magic Johnson is black, has AIDS and has it better than ME?
Ok. As soon as you get all negative groups to stop carrying the American flag.
See how unrealistic your expectation is?
We shouldn't be expected to get all negative groups to quit carrying the flag. Other people should just quit being so narrow minded and grouping everyone together.
Their is nothing racist about The Sons of Confederate Veterans but they can't even display the Confederate flag in public due to narrow mindedness.
Close to where I live on Memorial Day a group of Sons of Confederate Veterans wanted to carry the Confederate flag in a Memorial Day parade. The parade organizer said they could not because America only had one flag. The official definitioin of Memorial day is "it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service." People who fought for the Confederacy fit that category yet we were not allowed to honor our ancestory because they have been demonized in our history books.
It is quite disappointing for a country that is supposed to be about tolerance.

The thing is there isn't a negative stigma attached to the American War Flag like there is with the confederate flag. Most people see Old Glory and DON'T think about the negative groups carrying it, while the confederate flag is completely the opposite. While I understand your point, it's not applicable here, because of the majority/minority principle.

And the reason there is a negative stigma attached to it is because it has been under a smear campaign for 144+ years by the American government.
There is no way to counter that....especially if people just readily accept what is in our history books without studying the real information on their own.

Unfortunately, but if people who support the confederate flag do nothing to change the stigma, how is it going to change?

And what would you suggest us do when everyone all ready has their mind made up?

Tell your redneck brethren to take a hike, to start using a different flag to support their causes. Disown those parts of the south entirely. Or at least implore them to help you remove the stigma. I mean it's really hard for me to believe that there should be something positive associated with the confederate flag when I see "Partnership for a Whiter America" right below it.

That is like telling Native Americans to go out and tell how their ancestors were wronged by the American Government.
In fact I dare say they have it easier. At least most people know the American government screwed them over in this day and time.
