A solution to the my birthday problem.

My birthday was last week (thanks a lot of for the well wishes, fuckers) so for the past month all I've been hearing from my relatives has been, "What do you want for your birthday?" Ideally I'd just want them to leave me alone. I don't like presents. I'm a little bit anal, which makes me hard to buy for, which means more than likely you're going to buy me something I don't like.

Now that my birthday has passed, I've found a solution. Instead of buying me presents, why don't they just buy themselves a present, with the money they would've spent on me? For example, for the past 3 years I've bought my mom some perfume for L. Ron Hubbard day (Basically Christmas). Instead of me buying it for her now, she could just buy it in replacement of a gift for me.

Get it?

I'm going to propose this idea to the relatives.

My birthday is coming up on 6/25, so the question was actually asked last night by both my wife and parents: "What do you want for your birthday?" I said there really wasn't anything I need anymore. The only thing I need (and I'll go buy it myself thank you) is some new work pants and shirts. That's pretty boring, huh? But I like your idea of just telling them to go buy something for themselves instead.

Or if someone wants to help restock my bar downstairs, I suppose I'd take that with a smile and a "Thank you".

This year my parents just put money into my account so I could buy clothes. No point them risking buying something I won't like.

See in that way I'm good because my dad knows exactly what I will and wont wear, it's pretty cool. So he can do either, give me money or just get something for me.

Last year he actually bought me some stuff and other than a jacket that was stolen in the pub I still wear the stuff.
