You can do a protective sweep of a person, which means patting them down but you can't go in their pockets. With cars you can do a protective sweep of the car meaning looking to see if a weapon is in plain view in the seats, floor, dashboard, etc...but you cannot go into gloveboxes, bags, or a trunk. That should be pretty obvious. And I said NOTHING about calling a K9 unit in for every stop. K9 units can be used to get probable cause to search. That is a FACT.

Do you even know what anarchist means? I think you probably meant conspiracy theorist because anarchist despise anything to do with a structured government hence why they want to over throw it.

The argument you are using is ridiculous. 'Only people who have something to hide refuse a search'. Why the hell should we consent to a search? We don't know what that officer is going to do. Policeman are people and they are sometimes corrupt. Why risk getting something planted on you and spending a LONG time in jail for it? Why risk something being in a used car you purchased that you didn't know about? Heck, it happens with vehicles sold at police auctions sometimes! Years later they find drugs in it. So why should anyone risk that? That is not being shady, that is being smart. We have rights against unreasonable searches for a reason.

I know exactly what probably cause means. You were the one implying that you can search anyone you pull over. And I bet the police never bend the rules on probable cause either do they?

This is a big problem in our country. Police Officers with very little education and a crazy inferiority complex who feel the need to make people 'RESPECT' them. You are not owed anything.

You're kind of making my point with me. Of course Mother Nature's solution isn't working. Man keeps killing them! You look in places where predators are allowed to survive and the deer populations are either controlled or taken way down. The Minnesota DNR helped bring the gray wolf back to Northern Minnesota in assisting in the deer population surge. Wildlife officials have done the same in Alaska and in Yellowstone, with wolves, cougars, and bears to help control deer populations.

Other countries are also realizing that "hey...i'll be damned. Natural predators do a pretty good job of containing these animals." I read in National Geographic that even in South Africa, they've brought lion prides into areas because zebras and wildbeats are starting to invade suburban areas.

I'm not anti-hunting, like Lord Steve is. I have friends and family members who hunt. I even love venison. I'm just saying sending a militia into the woods to mow down deer isn't the only solution. It's not even the best. It's proven worldwide that when man eliminates predators from an area, big problems ensue.

I love how topics at thie site go so awry! This started as news about four Oakland cops getting killed an now we're debating the merits of hunting and wildlife conservation.

Has anybody ever talked to you longer than five minutes without blowing their brains out? If so, I imagine that list is pretty small. You never listen to anyone and simply rehash your point over and over again. I know I said AT LEAST THREE TIMES that in fact NO.....I cannot simply pull you over and check your vehicle....yet you continue to bring it up over and over again.

So ya know what? You don't want to listen...then go find a mirror and talk to yourself then.
