can i just ask the why you need guns if the their is never any gun crime or anything so whats the point
The point is that at any time I could be forced to defend myself or my family and I have the right to have a gun in order to do so. Why should a home owner be at a disadvantage to a criminal?
and in the constitution is the reason for Americans having guns not to protect your home from the British last time i checked we're ok with you now
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Don't see anything about Britain there.... Of course that played a part in it but it was also allowing the right for all citizens to keep and bear arms for the security of a free state.

Obviously in theory it is a great idea for people to have guns to protect their homes, but the reality is that any maniac can get hold of a gun with ease and commit murder. Look at the death of Dimebag Darrell. Things like that happen all the time because ANYBODY can get hold of a gun. It may be just the criminals who have guns here, but with guns not readily available, the violent crime rate is way less.

And how do you propose making it harder for people to get guns here? Stopping the legal ownership of them would not do that. What needs to be done is that we need to enforce the current laws better. Do you know what happens when you make something illegal...at least in the U.S. anyway?
Lets look at the prohibitioin of alcohol for example. The only thing that succeeded in was creating a black market and creating criminal king pins such as Al Capone. It also made the problem much worse by people creating very low quality home made alcohol and selling it, in the process poisining and killing lots of people. The government finally realized their mistake and corrected the problem.
So does prohibiting legal gun ownership still look just as appealing?
Remember, it is easier to buy a gun illegally in the U.S. than it is to buy a gun legally. I can go to a flea market right now and pay cash and get a gun. No problem. Making legal gun ownership illegal is completely useless.

right fair enough just something i heard a couple of years ago but seems like it was bullshit lol
for the record i am quite a gun person and use them reguarly for sport in the Air Trainning Corp and quite a good marksmen (if i do say so myself) i just don't like the idea of having them for personal use.

I can understand your point of view. We come from different cultures. Now don't get me wrong, I am all for reasonable regulation of guns but I cannot nor will not support a ban on legal ownership. I have my guns locked away and very rarely ever take them out. I haven't fired a gun in years. I am not one of those people who get out and target shoot at pop cans. But I reserve the right to own a gun if the situation would arise where I would need one.

Well firstly the prohibition of alcohol can't really be compared to this because it was and is a normal part of life for most people and as such it is a lot harder to try to stamp it out. It is a valid point though, but it has to be said that I never claimed guns should be banned right now. It wouldn't be workable. I am just saying that you guys seem to think guns being allowed is essential for any country to function, and that is not the case because our violent crime rates are much lower, largely due to the fact that guns are banned.

I would like some reputable statistics for this, and not only that crimes rates are lower in England but that it is attributed to gun control.
The murder rates in England were all ready low before they enacted gun control so you are going to be hardpressed to prove that England's low crime rate can be attributed to gun control.

Well apparently he didn't read it since he is using the fact that the other guy was trained in firearms as a reason that he has more of a reason to have a gun than I do. My point was I have been as well.
Uh Huh...

Of course you did...

As for Dollar General, I just recently stepped down from my Management position there and am currently looking for employment. I could be a Policeman or Correctional Officer at any time of my choosing but I am looking for something better first.
Total Oxymoron. Not even going to dignify this with a response.

I saw you recently mentioned you may not be a Policeman anymore..? What happened? Forced to quit? Shit your pants when someone pulled a gun on you and are afraid to get back out on the streets? Do tell.
Try none of the above. Everytime I have never had a gun drawn on me in the line of duty and, the only time I had a pistol shoved in my face was during an altercation years before I even became a police officer. I am not a pussy like you. I don't mind a confrontation unlike yourself Mr. I want even confront a shoplifer. No wonder you hide behind guns.

On the contrary, bullshit to you Sir. I have only ever complained about incidents in which the Police went beyond their jurisdiction. In fact the major discussion you and I had wasn't even about a ticket that I had got. It was about the fact that I was pulled over by a city policeman outside of city limits for speeding. I didn't even get a ticket I was just sharing the story to show the audacity some policeman have. You cannot pull someone over for speeding if the infraction occured outside your jurisdiction. That should be obvious but you had to come into my thread with your 'brothers in blue' bullshit and defend you fellow cop.
That is so a pile of bullshit. You have bitched and cried on several occasions about police officers. There was a time when I posted in a thread related to anything with law enforcement you had something smart to say regardless. If I disagreed with a police officer's actions you made insults. If I agreed with a police officer's actions you called me corrupt.

A lot of people don't know their rights and Cops exploit that. Don't play innocent here you know it well. For example, tricking people into searching there car....or in better terms badgering them until they give in. Take this as an example:
Policeman: 'Do you have anything illegal in the car I need to know about?'
Citizen: 'No, nothing.'
Policeman: 'Well you don't mind me searching your vehicle then do you?'
Citizen: 'Well...I don't really want you searching my vehicle...'
Policeman: 'Well if you don't have anything illegal you shouldn't mind me searching your vehicle.'
Citizen: 'Ok...'
Now you know full well this happens all the time and the Policeman plays on the publics ignorance of their rights to badger them into searching.
The way the conversation should go:
Policeman: 'Do you have anything illegal in the car I need to know about?'
Citizen: 'No, nothing.'
Policeman: 'Well you don't mind me searching your vehicle then do you?'
Citizen: Yes I do mind. You cannot search my vehicle without probable cause and if you had probable cause you would not be asking me my consent to search my vehicle.
Uh, how many times are you going to copy and paste this same conversation with the police officer and the citizen? I mean this isn’t the first time you have used this same conversation. I know you are bad about copying and pasting but come on now. If you are not going to be original at least copy and paste something you haven’t used.
That conversation is a load of shit. Probable cause starts the minute we pull you over. If we have reason to pull you over, we have cause to search your vehicle. You refuse to let us search your car, guess what? It gets towed and we get a warrant. Sorry, but in all my years I've never had an INNOCENT PERSON refuse to be searched. It's usually people with something to hide, that hide behind rights and amendments. It has nothing to do with people not knowing. It's with people not caring because they have nothing to hide.
It would seem to me to be a HELL of a lot easier to allow the search, nothing is found, and you being on your way then having your car towed...a warrant issued....and a lot of unnecessary angst and time wasted just so you can play "stay out my bidness, po-leece man."
Not having probable cause would be me walking up to you standing in the parking lot of the mall and putting you up against the hood and asking to look in your car. If you get pulled over or do something to attract police attention, guess what dumbass....PROBABLE CAUSE!

I'm going to get back on topic for this post. (Yeah, I know it's hard to believe, lol)
Sunday night I was working a call in our busy neighborhood (which was actually a domestic dispute involving a firearm that was actually obtained and registered legally). While I was walking through the apartments of the public housing authoity region (a place where I doubt Dak would step out of his car) I had three small children approach me and ask me if I was going to shoot somebody. I told them absolutely not and that only bad people hurt other people like that. They then asked me what if someone pointed a gun at me what would I do. I told them I hope that situations like that never occurs and just walked on my way back to my vehicle.
In this same neighborhood I even took a small .25 caliber pistol off a child who had taken it from his momma's boyfriend without him having any knowledge of the situation. I wonder how he would have felt if he would have accidently shot one of his friends he was showing the gun off to?
