Are forums taboo in todays society? You know, like if someone sees you on it posting or whatever, do they (or do you think they will think) "Oh, you're a loser on a forum, yada yada yada". Some of my friends know I post on them, and some of them bug me about it, but I don't really care, some are cool about and don't care really. Do you think posting on a forum makes people think less of you? I think most people have the misconception of an Internet blogger as a 'Fat geeky person who never leaves their house and doesn't have any friends and can never get a girlfriend' which isn't true to the slightest. The reason I bring this up is because someone I know posts on a forum at work and someone walked behind him and called him a loser.

I know some of my friends use forums for stuff like sports, music, movies, etc. No one I really know seems to think of it that way, I atleast and probably others don't see it as much worse than spending hours of facebook or whatever.
I don't know, I usually see most people wandering through MySpace forums or some social networking device as their main chance to read other people's opinions. I much rather come to a real working forum because I know I can get a lot of information out of it. I would say to an extent they are taboo because nobody I know posts on a forum beside me. I use to have my friends get on forums but they didn't really see the point of it. I enjoy forums because they are places where I can express my opinion and read other people's opinions. It is also a great place for resources, such as GFX help, wrestling multimedia, or if a CD just came out that you are dying to download. Forums for the most part have become kind of taboo. I mean, I don't know if I honestly see myself posting on here when I'm married, have a house of my own, and a job.

Wrestling is more taboo than forums. The two combined is not something I'd brag about. I mention it in passing to my best friends but if I was just getting to know someone (especially a girl) I wouldn't want them to find out I post on a wrestling forum lol.
I think forums in general are taboo to a certain extent, as they are seen as somewhat geeky. It is more the wrestling part I would be embarassed about though.
"A few weeks prior to signing with WCW, I witnessed Hogan wrestle Flair on Nitro. Now strictly from a fan perspective, it was very hard to watch. What I witnessed that night was two legends that were shells of their former selves still trying to do it. Watching Hogan & Flair that night just wasn't right. In my opinion the bookers were just exploiting them to try to pop a number. It was a desperate situation and that's exactly the way it came across on TV."

I'm saying I'd watch Punk alone in a porno.
It's only taboo if they make the forum as if it's their life. People that tend to spend, for example, 12 hours a day on a forum, does show that they do little or nothing in their personal life. For me, I don't want to spend the majority of the day on a forum, social networks, or photoshopping, but again I got nothing to do around the house after I do chores around it.
Whenever any one comes round I always delete this place from my bookmarks, I would be weird in there eyes for going on a wrestling forum, that why I wish the name would change back to Monks Diner :L. But yeah many people think of forum peeps as sweaty nerds just like Wrestling gets bad beef forums do to shame really.

I dunno, you can spend a hell of a lot of time on forums and still have an active social life. I'm just always on them when I'm bored or as I'm watching TV or whatever. I still have friends and go out a lot.

I dont think they are taboo as much as people look puzzled if I mention it. They get this look on their face like you do what? On a what? I never seem to mention that it's a wrestling forum though. haha.
I don't know about taboo, but I would consider a lot of these forums a waste of time; especially if you could be spending that time living a pro-active life that includes working, exercise, dating, going to school, etc..
I personally think forums are fun, but some people spend way to much time on these thigns, like Tommy Red for example.
