lol that is the most insane thing I've ever heard. How could this possibly be fair especially to people in areas where there is no mass transit? And with how hard it is to find a job some people have to travel an insane amount to their job. I guarantee gas will soon go up too. Massachusetts is one of the states proposing this. And I guarantee this state does. They tax the shit out of us in general anyway.
I live 25 minutes away from New Hampshire. It costs 24 more dollars per carton for cigarettes. Cost more for booze, shit more for gas. Insanity.
What do you think about this new idea? It's only been proposed in 10 states so far. Obama flat out said no to it for a federal law.
This might have been explained in the article, but right now I dont have my contacts in and cant be arsed to read anything long, but Im confused on one thing. Is the state going to force everyone to have a chip in their car or are they just doing this for new cars sold in the state?

I read that there will be a chip in the registration sticker. So everyone will have one.
Hmm, Id be interested to see how that chip works. We put our stickers on our plates, so Im not sure how the sticker would be of any use to the government. I'd expect the chip to be placed in your dashboard computer.
Well in comparison here if you have a speed pass it's called. It's a chip that you put somewhere on the inside of your windshield that knows your car when go drive through tolls. Instead of having to wait in line.
I don't know how they'd connect the mileage together though.
I dont think we have those. We have toll freeways, but there are cameras that take a picture of your plates and youre mailed the bill. Anyone who is smart puts a tinted cover over their plates and the camera cant pick it up. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Anyhow, I cant see the government justifying this type of tax in these economic times, especially with the property taxes on the rise, gas prices going up, and families in North America as a whole struggling to survive. The sad part is once this recession is over, interest rates will probably double.

Well Massachusetts is insane. Considering it costs around at least $1,500 for a half ass decent apartment in this damn state I wouldn't be suprised.
There'll be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no more pain, no more parting over there;
And forever I will be with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
The set-up costs are the biggest obstacle, but really road pricing like this is the best way forward for everyone, US or otherwise. Singapore has a system like this and it's worked very well there.
