In my opinion we need to go back to the gold standard.
Printing worthless money gets you exactly that, worthless money.
We get in trouble, they print more in effect devaluating our currency.
It worked in the U.S. until 1971 and there is absolutely no reason it can't work now.
It is the only fix.

That's a terrible terrible terrible argument, there's no logic to that at all.
Just because something once worked doesn't mean it will work forever.
Easy example is slavery, it once worked until people realized they were the same.
Just because the gold standard once worked is no indication that it would continue to do so.
And just because the crap system we have now once worked doesn't mean it is going to work forever.
It's time for a change.

But I'm not the one trying to make the argument here, you are.
You have to present something better than 'well it worked once, it can work again'.
Give something for the gold standard not against the current system.
I thought I did that when I said that money cannot devalue when it is backed up with gold.
What is the problem we are having now?
The dollar continues to devalue and we are in effect printing worthless money.
Solution: Back it with gold and it doesn't devalue.
Problem solved in my opinion.

Situation:
A) Mine is not yet at peak and you get 200 gold pieces with 200 workers.
Nation needs money to be devalued for whatever reason.
B) Nation says mine continues to employ 200 workers (however this is lie only employs 150 now) and only gets 150 gold pieces out of mine.
C) Money devalues.
And that would take a country wanting to devalue its own money...
So yeah.

The Canadian manufacturing industry loves a devalued looney.
Well thats a whole other issue.
Manipulating currency is part of our current problem.
