Wal-Mart Makes Kevin Smith Remove "Porno" From Movie

We guess that even just the word "porno" is enough to offend some folks, because Wal-Mart told Kevin Smith that if he wants to sell the DVD release of Zack and Miri Make a Porno at their stores, the word "porno" must be removed from the cover.
So, there's no "porno" at Wal-Mart, but there are guns…and lots of Slutty Cyrus merchandise.
Kevin Smith, who's faced a string of obstacles with his naughty-named flick, said, "I'm just so shocked that the word 'porno' meant that much to people in terms of, like, they found it insanely offensive and don't want to see it on display."
Smith complied, however, not without some concern for folks who might be misled by the new innocuous title.
Kevin admits that the film does "include nudity, vulgar content, and colourful language," but has insisted that almost all of it is for the laughs, not the sexy times.

It makes sense. A lot of little kids go running around in places like Walmart and they don't need them going "Mommy, what's a porno?" Plus, it's kind of a long and pointless title. The movie could have just been called Zack & Miri.

Considering kids can walk up and look at guns at walmart I think they a lot more pressing issues on their hands.

Yeah, but a gun really isn't something kids don't know about. They do have toy guns everywhere and the concept of death isn't really established at a young age. Plus, Wal-mart doesn't carry guns in every store. They've been taking them out more and more.
Porn is a little bit different, plus...where is it more likely for a kid to be, in the electronics department where all the music and movies are, or in the hunting section of Wal-Mart?
I mean, Wal-Mart doesn't even sell parental advisory CDs, you kind of have to expect them to censor something like this. It won't hurt their business any, most people prefer Wal-Mart's family atmosphere.

Well let's not forget that it was Wal-Mart that banned Al Snow figures in 1999. They thought people would view Head (Which came with the figure) as a way of supporting violence against women.

I hate Wal-Mart.
It is hillbilly heaven around here though. They are gonna be around for a long time.

i hate walmarts for the most part. i work at one tho but sometimes its ridiculous at all the scum that comes in there and complains about shit. when i lived in the bigger city i went to Target instead so i didnt have to see as many single moms with 12 kids from different fathers dragging their kids around yelling at em.
